Epic?

Yeah... short lived retirement.  But I must say.... I am over the moon impressed with the Callaway Epic Speed driver.  I went to DSG tonight to “test the water”... the results... are enough to bring anyone out of retirement.

9° head with a Hazardous Smoke shaft in Stiff.  This thing was nasty... 25 yards on the SIM 2.

The guy handed it to me, I said no thanks... not really a Callaway guy... he said trust me... 16 in a row, a few big misses, but this thing hits my fade like I’ve never seen before.  Trying to convince the wife that I need to “un-retire” from golf... shouldn’t take much maybe just a new Lexus or something.

I might follow my dude Rahmbo.  In all honesty, the only reason I have a bias against Callaway is because I broke a demo GBB back in 2001... had to spend my entire paycheck to replace the shaft... 

 

Who knows what lies ahead.  I won’t be able to golf as much as I’d like this year, dual enrolled with 6 classes at once, plus a long work week... it isn’t going to get the attention that I normally would give.  I have a 5 day break right now, and it is a huge relief to have a few days of “nothing”

Nothing like whacking a golf ball to drop some stress, next best thing is a target and hearing protection but that’s just me

Thanks. Can’t leave you guys, but I will be less active on here from time to time depending on the course load, I am up against an age limit, and I have absolutely zero room for a hiccup.

 

  I wanted to try the low spin version but I was short on time, I may try that one on Wednesday night.

Foz,

I am an undergrad Bible student right now, 9 credits away from graduation.  My masters will be a Masters of Divinity, focusing in Biblical studies.  Eventually, I would like to take some archeological classes and go that route.  
 

But in the mean time I will be focusing on getting ordained, and hopefully become a Chaplain where I was called.  If that ends up not being the way things shake out, I will be a pastor at a local church when I retire in 6 years from active duty.
 

I really enjoy the academic study of the Bible, so that might lead to some sort of teaching about it down the line.

 

I attend Liberty University Online.

Dude have you been doing swing speed training?  Those numbers are BIG!  And I would say they could be bigger.

Hey Joe,

I haven’t swung a driver since January, not the swing speed sticks until yesterday.  Did a mini workout with the super speed sticks for 3-5 minutes and that was it.  Yeah, they were high... everything was way right, but the way they had the shot scope set up I couldn’t swing “DTL” without taking out part of their fitting rack.

7 of the last 10 had spin over 2800 too, a couple at 4000+, so having to adjust for the rack may have affected that too.

FYI that is total spin - it is adding side spin and backspin.

162-167 ball speed.

I hit the SIM 2, but didn’t take pictures.  Not a one of them carried anywhere near the 300 mark.

 

ghe real bad ones were out of play the 3000-5000spin...

My average drives with the PXG are 265... longest of 305, down wind.

Only if the driver was an extremely poor fit. 
 

I would never make an assumption about a driver based on a store launch monitor unless I was hitting my current driver side by side. They could be juicing the simulator software easily. Especially at a dsg

Yeah. My thoughts too, I asked the dude if they had it cranked up for sales, he promised me he didn’t... but you never know who’s telling the truth. I’m bringing my gamer on Wednesday.  It was not fit to me, nor have I been anywhere near 300 carry with it since I bought it... but, those are similar numbers to what I used to get with my R1, that thing was a monster.

Very impressive. you must have had Smash of 1.5. What was your SS as with those carry numbers, i would have expected you to be in a X stiff shaft. Welcome back!

The 317 ball was a SS of 119, smash of 1.40, the lowest SS was 107, but mostly in the 111-116 range.

Was it a gcquad or Trackman? Most DSGs just have GC2s still, which only capture ball speed and then calculate swing speed based on a preset smash factor

Yeah.  It’s definitely preset at 1.4 smash

Realistic smash was probably closer to 1.43-1.45, so that means your swing speed was probably sitting between 110 and 115 mph  club head speed which is awesome
