tony@CIC
WGC made me reflect on my personal competitive play preference. In our Club's competitive events, I prefer match play events. It probably appeals to my short attention span . Which do you prefer competing in and why. THEZIPR23 and Rickp 2 Quote Left Hand orientation SIM 2 D Max with Fujikura Air Speeder Shaft Cobra Radspeed 3W/RIptide Shaft   410 Hybrids 22*, 26* Cobra Speed Zone 6-GP/Recoil ESX 460 F3 Shafts  SM7 54* Wedge  Glide 3.0 60* Wedge  O Works putter  V3 NX9-HD  - 4 Wheel EZGO TXT 48v cart  - too many shoes to list and so many to buy  And BAG Boy Golf Balls: Vice Pro Plus 2020 Official Tester  Beginning Driver Speed - 78 2019 Official Tester   410 Driver 2018 Official Tester  C300
THEZIPR23
Same. I am a birdie maker and a bogey maker. Match play fits my game that way better. tony@CIC 1 Quote    Stealth 2+ 9 (Diamana PD 60 S 45")    Stealth 2+ 15 (Diamana PD 70 S 43")      G425 19 (Raijin 2.0 85x)      G425 22 (Raijin 2.0 85x)       ZX7 5-9 (KBS C Taper S)       Vokey SM9 45 10 F (KBS 610)        Vokey SM9 49 08 F (KBS 610)        Vokey SM9 55 08 M (KBS 610)        Vokey SM9 59 04 T (KBS 610)    Spider GT Splitback 34"        ProV1 #23 Twitter       @THEZIPR23  "One thing Golf has taught me, is that my muscles have no memory." Shankster
Never played in a match play comp. But I had the most fun playing with the boss in match play.  He was scratch or better and I could hang with him in match play... Rickp and tony@CIC
DaveP043
I prefer match play. At my club we do a 36-hole stroke play event in mid-summer, and our Senior Championship is 36 holes of stroke play. Those are the two toughest weekends of the year for me. I can shrug off a single bad hole in match play, but in stroke play it can ruin your entire tournament. I love the challenge, but its really difficult. tony@CIC 1 Quote  Irons Titleist T200, AMT Red stiff Rogue SubZero, GD YS-Six X  T22 54 and 58 wedges  7-wood 5-wood  B60 G5i putter Right handed Reston, Virginia
DiscipleofPenick
It's so hard to find 1v1 match play in the amateur ranks, outside of club championships. That's tons of four ball. I've always felt like I'd do better in match. If you take an 8, your down 1 instead of 4. Match used to be the core of amateur tournament play, but it feels like everything has moved away from that in favor of stroke because that's what the pros do.Take Dead Aim Quote Take Dead Aim Driver: PXG 0211 10.5*Â Fairway: Titleist 917 F3 15* Hybrid: Adams Idea Pro Boxer Gold 18* Irons: MacGregor MT-86 Pro Wedges: Vokey 50/54/58 Putter: SeeMore X2 Costa del Mar Ball: Srixon Z-Star

CarlH
Most of our tournaments at my club are stroke play (gross and net within flights).  We do have a huge week long match play tournament that draws players from all over the PNW hosted by our club. If I'm playing with similarly skilled players, I prefer match play, even up.  With largely differing handicaps, I prefer medal play, net score.   Quote Driver:  Rogue ST Max (10.5* set at -1 and neutral) -- Mitsubishi Tensai Blue 55g R shaft Fairway:  Rogue ST Max 3 wood (16.5*) and Heaven Wood (20*)-- Tensai Blue 55g R shaft Hybrids:  Rogue ST Max 5H (23*)--Tensai Blue 55g R shaft Irons:   Apex CF19 6-9, PW, AW -- KBS Tour Graphite  TGI 70 shafts R +1/2 inch 3* upright Wedges: Edison 53* and  57* KBS PGI 80 Graphite +1/2 inch 2* upright Putter: L.A.B. TBT
My old club had a club match play championship....blind draw, pool play then knockouts just like WGC. We scheduled our own matches and had 2 months to get all of it done. I went pretty deep 1 year. Making it to the semifinals.I enjoy match play...you can have a few bad holes and it doesn’t kill you,Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy Quote    XR Driver Matrix Ozik 8m3 Black Tie Shaft King F7 3W UST Mamiya Chrome Elements 7F4 Shaft King F7 5W UST Mamiya Chrome Elements 7F4 Shaft King F7 4 Hybrid Graphite Designs Tour AD-HY 95 Shaft PXG 0211 DC 5-PW Mitsubishi MMT 80 Shafts  RTX ZIPCORE 50*,54*,58* UST Mamiya Recoil 95 Shafts  Metal X Milled #7 with SuperStroke 2.0 grip  MTB   Twitter: @timldotson Instagram: timldotson Facebook: TimDotson
