fixyurdivot
Howdy Spies. We will be meeting in Bend, OR for this years spy round-up. Open to MGS's far and wide. Throwing in a few images to wet the palate and get the wheels spinning . Kenny @Kenny B, Chris @Thin2win and I will be arriving earlier in the week Tues/Wed for some extra rounds. Here is the preliminary itinerary for play but we're open to suggestions from you locals who have the inside scoop on these courses. Wednesday 5/19, (early arrivals and possibly a late afternoon round at Old Back 9, Lost Tracks, or Rivers Edge) Thursday 5/20, Quail Run Friday 5/21, Pronghorn Saturday 5/22, Widgi Creek Sunday 5/23, Juniper (early am round so we can hit the road home afterwards) Other public courses that look good include; Meadows and Woodlands (at Sun River Resort). Tetherow is another, but we feel either it or Pronghorn are sufficient to satisfy our "high end, high $$, punishing course" jones . Of course, if we are able to get some skookum deal on them... that might change our thinking . Please let us know ASAP whether you (family and/or friends) can make all/part of the dates so we can get final numbers for scheduling tee times. Vegan_Golfer_PNW
I might be down for 5/22 or 5/23. Need to chat with my wife if they want to spend a weekend in bend or not. Vegan_Golfer_PNW
So I likely have to skip out on this this go around. Not real good way to make it work. If it was 3 weeks later I would be down for sure. I am sure to play some rounds during my month off with @twyatt700, @Kenny B ( when he gets his driver fitting) and maybe @dlow206 ( if I get up to Seattle and bring my clubs) and likely some other pdx area spies. Vegan_Golfer_PNW
so i realize i may get to take two comp days from work that week. The first one being the 18th while my MIL moves in. Kenny B
Well, the 2021 PNW Region MyGolfSpy Meet-Up got underway last Tuesday June 8 in the Spokane WA area. Although we tried for Bend Oregon, the dates interfered with @Thin2win purchase of a new house in the Spokane WA area, so we had to move the dates and location. Unfortunately, we couldn't round up more Spys other than the ones we had last year... @Thin2win, @fixyurdivot, and myself with my wife making our 4th player. On Tuesday afternoon after driving 3 hours, we played MeadowWood GC in Liberty Lake, WA. My wife and I have never played there, but the other guys did play it last year... a nice course in good condition. Chris and Bill warming up on the "range". Something just wrong hitting into water before playing. One of the holes... sorry can't remember what hole #: On Wednesday morning we headed to Circling Raven on the south end of Lake Coeur d'Alene. We played this course last year and it's a great track; #1 rated course in Idaho. The ladies on the Symetra Tour will be playing here at the end of August. The putting green was being enlarged for the event and closed for practice... Bad for my game!! Chris driving the par 4 #10 hole into the front bunker; I went to the left of that tree. Next up was Indian Canyon in Spokane; one of my wife's favorite courses. She grew up in Spokane and had to lug a leather bag with persimmon woods and blades up and down the hills among the trees. It where she got her nickname "The Lumberman's Daughter" because her family was in the timber industry and she claims to have hit every tree on the course. #1 Looking back up to the back tees and the clubhouse from #1: Looking back up to the clubhouse from the #10 fairway: I found out how Chris managed to make it around Indian Canyon : Now it's Friday and we took a road trip an hour north of Spokane on US 395 to Chewela G&CC; not far from the Canadian border. Chewela has two courses; an 18 hole out-and-back course and a 9 hole course. We tried to play 27 holes, but when we finished 18, a tournament was starting on the 9 hole course. None of us have played this course. It had some interesting holes and some quirky holes that made it interesting if you have never played there before. Plenty of deer; we got within 6 feet of a doe driving from green to next tee. Saturday was the last day for my wife and I as we had a tee time at home on Sunday morning, but the guys played Liberty Lake GC on Sunday. It's located literally across the street from MeadowWood which we played on Tuesday. Saturday, we are back in Spokane at The Creek at Qualchan. Hole #1: What it looks like from the edge of the cliff... What it looks like from my ball in the fairway looking back to the tee: ... Dogleg right Hole #10, an ugly hole if you don't get to the dogleg: Overall, I didn't play poorly, but I could have played better. My driver worked well, and I made my share of up and downs. Unfortunately, everything in-between wasn't so good. My Scores: MeadowWood 84 Circling Raven 87 Indian Canyon 83 Chewela 83 Qualchan 89 If you get a chance to play with @Thin2win and @fixyurdivot, you won't regret it. These guys put up with my wife and I for 5 days, and they are the best!! I'm looking forward to next year. While Spokane has some great courses, I'm hoping we can visit other areas. Let's make it happen!!! Saturday was the last day for my wife and I as we had a tee time at home on Sunday morning, but the guys played Liberty Lake GC on Sunday. fixyurdivot
Great overview Kenny. It was indeed a really great time and hopefully we can add at least one more foursome to the 2022 PNW Meet-up. Here's a few more pictures from my collection. The O'Doherty's in Spokane Valley is also very good, but lacks the atmosphere of the original downtown. fixyurdivot 1 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”
