ejgaudette
I think this is something many of us have seen. At the start of the pandemic I bought a mat and net and have looked at personal launch monitors a bunch. This pandemic has increased my gold interest and play. I spent a lot of time during lockdown last spring just chipping in my backyard. I don't work from home that often anymore, but when I do my lunch breaks and breaks throughout the day are usually spent working out or chipping/pitching. My short game has gotten a lot better because of that. We have been given the freedom to WFH or the office as we please. I prefer working in my office (I have nicer equipment and like the separation), but admittedly I am also less than five minutes from my practice facility while at work and always am there on lunch hitting balls, putting or using the short game area. My wife jokes that the only time that I work from home is when there is rain forecasted... . EDIT - I also played a significantly higher number of rounds last season due to COVID cancelling our other plans, even though I didn't start playing rounds until mid-May. cnosil
Nothing has really changed for me. Same amount of golf and same amount of practice. Tom the Golf Nut
Luckily I had everything I needed at home so there was no need to scour the internet trying to find something like a net, push cart, mat, or a training aid. Which probably would have been on backorder anyway. I was and am still working from home 3 out of 5 days. My commute is an hour each way. I feel fortunate just to save 6 hours of driving. Its not like I can just go play a round during work hours though. I am called upon either by email or phone very often during the day. I'm kind of one of the main go to guys for people with questions, need advice on solving a problem, or contract terms and conditions reviews and negotiations. I don't want to loose the privilege of working from home so I'm working the entire time. I'm one one of a few that were allowed and they have issues with one of the others. So I don't want to give anyone a reason to take the privilege away. But I'm able to have MGS up in the background just in case I have the desire to contribute. I do hit the yard at lunch time for either some 100 yard work or some pitching and chipping. I will also get some Orange Whip time in. Now that daylight savings time is here, I can shoot right over to the course at 4:30 instead of 6:00 and play 9. But on Fridays we have 1/2 days so I can be at the course by 12:00. If its raining I can get 18 in on the simulator in about an hour. But recently with spring here, its been yard work. I had a landscaper come by to give me a quote and he wanted to charge me $3,000. After I showed him the end of my driveway and took my foot out of his rear, I decided to do it myself. $25 in weed killer and $120 in mulch and $100 in pea gravel. A few hours of labor so far and I'm 1/3 of the way done. I hate people that try to take advantage. HardcoreLooper
@GolfSpy_THV - Having been grounded for a year and counting, it's definitely been a big change. I'm playing more in the Richmond area, but I'm not playing away from home like I used to when traveling for work. With a basically year-round season in Richmond and easy access to a Trackman at TFT, I haven't really had much desire to invest in tech for the house. The only thing I bought for practicing at home is a dozen Birdieballs. GolfSpy_SHARK
Work for me has not changed. Still going in 90% of the time. I have been able to create a more flexible schedule though by either going in later or leaving a little earlier and doing business that doesn’t require me to be on site to complete (budgeting and project planning) which allowed me to golf more in the mornings! Will continue that once the wife is done with work at the high school! sirchunksalot and GolfSpy BOS 2 Quote Check out my reviews: G710 Irons Official Review I MC Shaft & V Series Putter Official Review 2022 Forged Tec's Official Review I Nitron Push Cart Official Review WITB: Weapons of grass destruction (link to WITB) Traverse is filled with all this shiny metal and tracked by RadSpeed 8* - MotoreX F1 6X SIM 3W - Project X HZRDUS Green U505 Driving Iron 17* - Project X HZRDUS Black SpeedZone 4H - Project X HZRDUS Black 2022 King Forged Tec's 4-PW - KBS $ Tape 130 48 (SM8), 52 & 60 (SM7) - Nippon Modus 125 S ER2VI PROV1X #19 Are you a veteran? GolfSpy BOS
Kind of a unique situation for me. When I went to the office I would go down on lunch and hit balls on the simulator in the gym. So I probably got more full swing practice in before. But since being home I’ve been able to work on putting inside and partial shots around the yard. Also, I golfed a lot more last year by going out once a week in the AM before logging in. So more of a change in play/practice opportunities for me. golfish!
Been working from home since last March. My office was about 5 minutes from a muni operated by American Golf where I had a players club membership so lunch breaks were for hitting the range. After the shutdown and WFH transition, I bought a net but really only used it twice as I live in an apartment and I still have to go and find a space to set it up etc and the courses and ranges opened up not long after I bought the net. I canceled my players club membership at the course near my office and joined one closer to home. Definitely playing more rounds during the week with the flexible hours but as @HardcoreLooper mentioned, not playing as much away from home as I used to travel about 40-60% of the time before the pandemic. Definitely miss those away rounds! excourse
Before retiring, I worked from home for 20+ years 90% of the time, the rest was travel for bids, proposals etc. On nice days here in bucolic Bucks County I'd go out and play 18 and make up any time in the evening. Got in a lot of golf, and consequently worked a lot of evenings.
