I’ve seen Matsuyama light it up before without winning - good to see him get another win, at the best major to boot. They say Japan will go crazy, good for them. And it was nice to see him show some emotion, I’ve never seen that from him. Great for Zalatoris, a future star. Speith is finally back. I feel for Schauffele, that’s going to mess with his head for a while, but hopefully it makes him tougher next time. As always, the Masters is a wonderful Sunday afternoon! He needs to win to get his actual tour card. With his temporary status he isn’t qualified for FedEx cup unless he wins an event. This is the same way Spieth was in 2013. he could finish 2nd place in every event the rest of the way and still wouldn’t make the FedEx cup. 5 hours ago, Kanoito said: I didn't know he was playing a TM FW and utility iron in addition to his Srixon gear. It’s a money thing. It costs a lot to have someone like hideki playing a full bag or even irons and woods. Even though the Dunlop brand under SRI sports has a bunch of money they don’t spend a lot on their golf sponsorship deals. The cost to have hideki play their driver is the same as getting 5 other pros to play their ball. He qualified for the Masters by being in the Top 50 in the OGWR after the Matchplay. Interestingly he says he only made it into the US Open because of COVID-19. The USGA didn’t hold the regional qualifiers because of the pandemic so they invited several guys that were doing well on the Korn Ferry Tour....he said he wouldn’t have tried to qualify this year because he didn’t think his game was ready......I guess he was wrong about that.
