I still enjoy some static/lightly dynamic stretching, but tend to relegate that to before lifting weights now. If my goal is to swing a golf club, my warmup is going to be swinging a golf club. I tend to do most of my Rypstick work at night when I'm sufficiently loose from the day's activities and can go harder then. So far, so good. I agree with this 100%! I have started taking bands with me to the course and doing a "light workout" before I hit the range and it has completely changed the "on-course" adjustment I have always suffered from where it takes me about 3 holes to get going. I have been doing my rypstick training right after my round when I am the most tired and I have picked up 8 mph of clubhead speed, which is nice because now what I feel is a stock swing/swinging easy, is still 112-115 with my driver. 1 Quote TSi3 8* w/ Tensei AV Raw White TX TSi3 15* w/ Tensei AV Raw White TX ZXU 18* w/ Ventus Black 9X T100S 4 Iron - 9 Iron w/ KBS C-Taper S+ SM9 46 F-grind / 50 F-grind / 54 F-grind / 58 M-grind w/ True Temper Gold Onyx Tour S400 Studio Select 35 Inch Del Mar Pro V1 Vessel Player III DXR Stand Bag

mikeanthony 1,648
Is anyone open to selling their Rypstick system? Now that my bag is complete and I'm committed to my current setup, I'm ready to dive into the speed training system. I've got the Swing Caddie SC200 and my driver practice swing without a golf ball is in the 103-105 range ... and yet most of the times (say 6 out of 10) when I'm setup behind a golfball, it drops down to 96-98 range, and I'm getting frustrated with that. An interesting thing I've read is the need for us to train our brains to trust ourselves to swing hard, and these speed training systems do exactly that. However, when it comes to my irons, it's a non-issue and my swing speed is the same with or without a golf. Anyhow, if you're looking to part with your Rypstick, I'd be interested. edingc 12,823
I've been able to continue using the Rypstick two times a week, doing a modified level two routine that includes feet together, step change and lead heel lift swings. I'm not about to get on my knees on the concrete (even with a pad), so that is the reason for the feet together swings. I was actually able to be outside for my session yesterday, and I'm seeing very slow but steady results from the Rypstick, weight training and just taking a lot of swings focused on speed. I saw 141 twice on the Sports Sensors Radar doing the no-weight, step change and no-weight, lead heel lift swings. That's pretty solid for me. I also was able to get the two-weight, normal swing up to 127. Additionally, I've noticed my non-dominant swings have improved quite a bit as well. I've been watching ball speeds on my Mevo+ with my 7 iron and they are creeping up to the 130 MPH territory, often 131-132 when I find the sweet spot. That's major progress. I did break out the driver on Saturday and hit 116 MPH club speed, but was all over the heel and low face and only once or twice got to 167+ ball speed. Lots to work on there mechanically. I did not continue with my custom workout routine with Sarah after my second month. She was very helpful throughout the two-three months I worked with her, but ultimately I went another route with my training. 2 Quote Unofficial WHS Handicap: 5.7 / Anti-Cap: 10.3 (Last Updated August 11, 2022) Driver: Callaway Epic Max LS (9°), 45.75", Fujikura Motore X F1 6X | Club Champion Fitting 17° Hybrid: Callaway Super Hybrid, 41.5", Mitsubishi MMT Hybrid 80 TX 21° Hybrid: Callaway Epic Flash, 40", Mitsubishi MMT Hybrid 80 TX 4 Utility: Cobra KING Utility (2020 Model), 38.5", UST Mamiya Recoil 110 F5 5-PW: Ben Hogan PTx Pro, 37" 7 Iron, Aerotech SteelFiber i125cw Stiff | Club Champion Fitting 50°, 54°, 58°: Edel SMS, V Grind, Nippon Modus 125 Wedge| Official Review Thread Putter: L.A.B. Best I can tell: No weight = SuperSpeed Green One weight = SuperSpeed Blue Two weights = SuperSpeed Red I suspect they are not perfect matches as I've always been slightly faster with the Rypstick than I was with my DIY SuperSpeed sticks. That being said, I'm not positive my DIY sticks were perfect matches to the real SuperSpeed sticks. I have not tried the counterweighted or three weight options. Neither of the first two Rypstick protocols have those configurations in them. 1 Quote Unofficial WHS Handicap: 5.7 / Anti-Cap: 10.3 (Last Updated August 11, 2022) Driver: Callaway Epic Max LS (9°), 45.75", Fujikura Motore X F1 6X | Club Champion Fitting 17° Hybrid: Callaway Super Hybrid, 41.5", Mitsubishi MMT Hybrid 80 TX 21° Hybrid: Callaway Epic Flash, 40", Mitsubishi MMT Hybrid 80 TX 4 Utility: Cobra KING Utility (2020 Model), 38.5", UST Mamiya Recoil 110 F5 5-PW: Ben Hogan PTx Pro, 37" 7 Iron, Aerotech SteelFiber i125cw Stiff | Club Champion Fitting 50°, 54°, 58°: Edel SMS, V Grind, Nippon Modus 125 Wedge| Official Review Thread Putter: L.A.B. WaffleHouseTour 859
Doing a pre-season check in/check back... I've been doing their Rep exercises three mornings a week during the fall, and twice a week during this January-March season in my hotel. Still waiting to go outside. Been swinging the Rypstick twice a week Mon/Wed in the evening. Sarah says a day of rest is important in-between (thought I don't understand why). She Who Must Be Obeyed got me the radar sold by RypStick, and so I've been using that since January. Last season my only method for determining swing speed was using my Mevo+ when actually hitting a ball outside. Broken one mirror in my hotel room, and tore a groove in my birdie ball putting mat (failed experiment at holding my hands higher...). And I'm sure my hotel neighbors wonder what in the world is causing that swooshing noise in my room... Here is my question - anyone ever use the third weight? All the protocols call for 0, 1 or 2 - but when does someone actually use the third weight? WaffleHouseTour 859
So, I started using the third weight. Go 1, 2, 3; rather that 0, 1, 2. Coincidentally about the time I started with that, RypGolf released an updated set of protocols where he mentions using the third weight. I have to admit, I liked the previous protocol 4 better than the new one - I just can't seem to find a rhythm with the two step (back then forward) drill as I feel completely uncoordinated. I'm sort of at a plateau - which is still higher than when I started. At least I didn't lose speed over the winter. However, I am worried that swinging only the rypstick all winter has ingrained some nasty habits. Like a flying elbow, over the top, full on casting swing. I don't get any feedback that I'm doing that - I have to watch for it in the mirror. But I went to the range for the first time a week ago and every full swing with an iron or wedge was, shall we say, "hosel adjacent". Nothing like having everyone down the line look up to see who should have yelled "fore" as a ball come screaming by headed parallel to the tee line... The driver, ironically, was great. But full irons and wedges were real trouble. I don't blame Ryp for that problem, those mechanics are all on me. So I'm going to take a week or two break from the speed training (still sticking w her exercise routines) to get back into sync. Going to employe that SmartBall - maybe even swing the Rypstick with that though they won't be full swings. But need to get the body back into sync. Its a bit odd, in the videos he talks about swinging hard and feeling out of control - but I'm completely out of control now...
