2021 Official Review: Motocaddy M5 and M7

This brings up a good question, can these be charged via a 12v charger in the car?

Hmm not sure how that would work since there is no 12V adaptor Motocaddy sells on the website at least that I have seen. @Motocaddy any feedback on this one? I would assume if you had a 120V AC convertor it would work.

I forgot to mention this---- See to the left of the Umbrella holder Fish posted? Do not know if it was designed that way but the slot on the left my remote control will clip there and there is plenty of cord to charge the remote. That is where I clip mine and plug the cord up. In fact mine had enough cord to charge my phone while it was in the holder.

I took a couple of short videos yesterday (Sunday) for your viewing pleasure.  I'm getting better at maneuvering the M7 to desired locations.  The first video is showing how the battery can be installed after the bag is loaded on the cart.  The second video is showing off my new gained skills. 😁

Your getting pretty good  at maneuvering that thing. You been showing it off of the range too like @BIG STU?

Trust me if he had put it up on #9 he could have caught that riding cart especially if it was electric. Now around my course we have gas carts that will fly of course I am not the only member that knows how to bend a govenor rod either.

Heck yea when I'm heading down a straight fairway I draft behind their cart and then bump em in the arse and fly pass em. 😉   Just like Dale Earnhardt did!😆

Finally walked my home course, Los Serranos Country Club in Chino Hills, CA. I shared some google maps images of this course but there are some holes here with big elevation changes. First up, a video of the first hole on the North course which is a par 5 with a long uphill to the green.

What goes up must come down yes? So here is the DHC in full effect on hole 5 a downhill par 4.

Google streetview picture from the right side of the fairway of that hole at the bottom of the slope.

image.png.eb2ae7e1322e1479f33ba14e5b137a00.png

And just for more validation, this is after the tee shot on hole number 12. A downhill then uphill par 4 dogleg left that plays 295 from the blue tees in a straight line from tee to green. Just a little brag here but hit a perfect draw around the corner that put me 70 yards uphill to the flag. Of course I chunk the approach but manage to get on in 3 and 2 putt for bogey.

image.png.2ee0c9cd8837a0db422d3a88e1a64d99.png

Google Earth image from the teebox of hole 12.

image.png.57baca0356abb585076dab9aa10e393f.png

Finally the video going down the path after the tee shot.

Great picture from the teebox of the 13th hole. Probably the highest point on the course which plays as a dogleg right 450 yards downhill from tee to green. No video here as it got a bit backed up and the cart path zig zags down the hill and I had to go full sprint once I hit the bottom so I could catch up with my buddy. Hit a great drive to cut the corner but got caught on the hillside and made a bad decision to try to go over a tree in my way!

Never walked this course before but with the additional rounds I have been walking I felt confident I could walk it. I was definitely a bit sore the next day but I would walk this course all the time with the Motocaddy even when it gets hotter. Luckily the weather that day was nice (mid 70's with a light breeze). Not only does having the Motocaddy make walking easier especially on this hilly course, the cart helps to carry my 4 liters of water with no effort so I can actually stay hydrated. Am I walking more rounds because of the Motocaddy? ABSOLUTELY.

Forgot to mention that the battery indicator did not really go down at all.

You can see the round timer showed 5 hours. The battery started from fully charged. Strangely enough my Shotscope V3 watch battery drained very quickly over the course of this round. Not related to the Motocaddy but just an observation. Usually the V3 is good for 2 rounds as well...

Great job, this is definitely on my list but I’m still worried whether I would walk a lot when it’s 98* with a heat index of 120* in July and August, the fact that I can load it down with water would definitely help.

they need to offer a layaway plan on these things 😂

Great job, this is definitely on my list but I’m still worried whether I would walk a lot when it’s 98* with a heat index of 120* in July and August, the fact that I can load it down with water would definitely help.

they need to offer a layaway plan on these things 😂

Yeah I walked in Arizona when it was 95 degrees out but definitely dry. I know Houston can get a bit humid. But for sure it helps that you don't have to lug your water around. The cart carries it for you!

Love this! That is definitely the goal, get more golfers walking and actually enjoying it!!

Yes I have found it a big help so far on my range sessions---- With the cart and bag set up I can carry plenty of experimental clubs and training aids plus plenty of water. I can also strap down my chair to take to the range. In reality I am able to stay on the range longer. Was going to try a 3 hole Stu Round this week but so far we have rain.

Lol you guys with the remotes. When I put my cart on setting 9 I am jogging next to it. But then again I do have the advantage of youth...xP

Well--- I am up on 3 now walking with it which is a great milestone for me--- Put it up on 9 the other day and of course it got out of range quick and did as advertized shut down. LOL I am starting to see a whole avenue away from golf--- Motocaddy racing--- Hey they race lawn mowers and even belt sanders so why not?

Forgot to mention that the battery indicator did not really go down at all.

You can see the round timer showed 5 hours. The battery started from fully charged. Strangely enough my Shotscope V3 watch battery drained very quickly over the course of this round. Not related to the Motocaddy but just an observation. Usually the V3 is good for 2 rounds as well...

Interesting, have you charged after each round, or tried and see how long it takes for the battery to die?

I have tried running the battery down. I went 2 full rounds plus 15 holes then spent an hour on the range with the unit plugged in and still had enough juice to get to my car. Never ran it till the battery died. @ole gray has run it till the battery died but I believe he played on much hillier courses. I played 2 full rounds on relatively flat courses with the last 15 holes on a fairly hilly course. Battery life overall is excellent and you will for sure get through 36 holes between charges in my opinion.

Does the cart keep track of the distance walked?

I know that it has a round timer on it, but I don't think that it tracks distance. @Motocaddy can you help with this one? Seems like a great feature to have on the M5 since it already has the GPS.
