Callaway Epic Flash 3 Hybrid

Has anyone else tested this club out on a trackman? I was testing it side by side going against a SIM Max 3 Rescue, with the same shaft in each. With the SIM I was getting a smash factor of around 1.48-1.50(max). With the Epic Flash I was getting a smash factor consistently above 1.50, maxing out at 1.54. To my understanding, anything above a 1.50, is considered an illegal club. Has anyone else had number like this with this Epic Flash Hybrid?

I have not had a chance to test the club but I will just add that there is no illegal smash factor. Just most drivers on trackman tend to have a smash around 1.5, but on GC Quad its more like 1.45 to 1.40. This is because of how club head speed is measured between the two systems which results in a lower club head speed reading but similar ball speeds so hence the higher smash factor. A hybrid is not as big as a driver but it a bit larger so it likely reads that club head a bit slow, and even a bit slower than the SIM Max leading to the change in smash factor. As such to compare the clubs I would consider the ball data a bit, speed, launch, spin, etc. than the smash factor you are getting with the club. Good luck with picking on of these hybrids.

Above post sums it up pretty well. Additionally the launch monitor may have been tweaked via the settings.

I won't add anything more to the excellent posts by @ejgaudette and @cnosil, but as an owner of both the Epic Flash and Super Hybrid I can say they are both extremely fast off the face. I very often see smash factors near or exceeding 1.5 with both clubs with my Flightscope Mevo.

And as it was pointed out, I do believe the shape of the hybrids greatly influences the club head readings. I find both hybrids to read slightly slower than I would expect compared to my driver and irons.

On the GC2 without the HMT, it doesn't actually measure the Smash Factor. It just uses a fixed smash factor based on the club selected. Not sure on the GC Quad.

Good point and I know the quad measures the speed on the club face so it tends to read swing a bit faster than trackman on drivers, woods, and hybrids where trackman is measure the speed at the center of mass which is behind the club faces in those clubs, with irons the readings are much more similar. Not to get the thread too off topic.

You're welcome, just watched a bunch of youtube videos lately so the head is full of a bunch of stuff for now. Probably forget it soon enough.

I struggle to hit my 3 wood and was thinking of testing out the SuperHybrid as I can hit my 4 Epic Flash hybrid pretty well. So I am looking for a club to go between my 4 hybrid and my driver. What is your feedback on the SuperHybrid?

I love mine as a 3 wood replacement.

There is some good feedback in the unofficial thread. I've chimed in a few times over there.
