The Stack System Review and Progress Thread

Boom, Foundations is done! Felt strong from start to finish, but the full stack (300g) is freaking heavy. Very happy with my 195g swings as I felt like I had hit a bit of a wall. Things were clicking today though, and I’m pumped to keep moving through the training sessions!

Progress check is done after foundations. And the results are:

For whatever reason I could not get my radar aligned to read single arm swings with my lead arm. After the progress check, you fill out a survey to help select the next program and the result was...

Lead Arm Enhancer

I am pretty excited for this program, part of me feared I would get steered back to another round of foundations. This winter I got help from a physio on my... lead shoulder. When making single arm swings using a golf shaft, I can tell my trail arm is significantly faster based on the whoosh noise while swinging. I definitely feel like there is low hanging fruit and gains to be had focussing on my lead side.

The app recommended a 2 week break until starting the next program which is 24 sessions. I plan on getting back into fit for golf workouts which have been slipping between speed training and playing.

If you get faster but make no improvements, you are still hitting the ball farther with shorter clubs in on approach. The reps of speed training should lead you to self organize and become more efficient as you learn how to move the club faster.

Good stuff! I’m excited to see what the app spits out for me after I knock out the progress check. I’m totally down for some single arm work, but I’ll go with whatever it recommends!

Although misses also go farther offline I would think. Would be nice if a radar was included. I know the story behind the stack was a lot of work.

Golf becomes easier when you can hit a hybrid 250 and a 9 iron 150 to get on a 400 yard par 4.

Decided to switch from the tour b xs ball to the tour b x as a test. Was around 80F tonight after our heat warning today lol, decided to play conservative on the par 5s... first hole into a 20mph headwind. I expect this approach to be 20-30 yards short of the green, not pin high

Did my progress test today and it looks like my overall speed stayed the same. The app recommended I take two weeks off and start training again on 6/18, which I found a bit odd. Either way, I’m going to adhere to the recommendation and I’m going to read up on the other programs before I select which one I’m doing.

Yeah, I’m not taking a damn two week break! After chatting with Sasho I’ll be giving Foundation another go since that’s what the app is recommending.

Started Lead Arm Enhancer, my SC200 was unable to capture lead arm swings (trail and 2 arm swings worked fine). Used the Stack website to reach out for support. Within 15 minutes I was on the phone with the man, the myth, the legend; Dr. Sasho Mackenzie.

We discussed speeds from baselining when I first received the Stack, my speeds during progress check, and decided Lead Arm Enhancer was likely recommended because I was not able to capture lead arm speeds during my recent progress check. The missing data would have showed as a large deficiency in the software which prompted the recommendation for Lead Arm Enhancer. Also, discussed my launch monitor as it was one of the few he did not test along with the Stack to determine whether they read speed correctly with his product and came up with a few ways to test it for minimum speeds.

He recommended I go to the next program down the list which is Neural Drive. Looking forward to it. Never expected to be chatting with the creator and even provided my feedback about improving the threads so you drop the cap less which he is going to discuss with Marty Jertson from PING. Another vote for this product as you cannot beat that level of customer service.

Was off on my training days last week so my grit score slipped a bit. I’m back on track now, though and I’ve noticed my second time through Foundation has been a little different. The app has definitely adjusted based on my first time through.

  • 2 weeks later...

I got mine earlier this week and finally had time to complete the baseline today.

Overall, the app is very easy to use as others have mentioned with recorded instructions and built in rest etc.

I’m not a long hitter compared to some of the numbers others are posting here so really looking forward to hopefully seeing some progress here.

Here is my baseline for tracking purposes.

Not sure if 90 would get me nice and loose or be too warm for me. Though I agree that these warmer days have helped the swing speed a lot.

  • 2 weeks later...

I just wanted to post a quick update as I finished my first real week with the stack. It’s interesting to see how the app changes and the training exercises it wants you to do. So far, I’ve actually made pretty good progress in the first week. Here is the baseline and the results after session 4.

4F3489E0-618B-4626-A27D-49BF47970EB5.jpeg.68e854e81e184c67e2c00af6951c83ef.jpegE77C92F9-890D-40DF-9653-580358C92EF4.jpeg.1d33a42b08cb6349ade9158dd1548a42.jpeg

I’m looking forward to seeing how the next couple weeks go and will continue to post updates.

The one thing I’ll have to inquire on is the Drive eSpeed. I actually swung my driver after the session today and the app is telling me I should be swinging the driver 90mph but I actually swung it 99mph. Just curious what others have seen with this.

Was not expecting to top all my previous speed records and then tie all time speed at the 195g driver weight on the day after my second covid vaccination. But speed training can be funny… I was able to get my actual driver up to 115 mph with no ball after the session. But 100-105 is my maximum gamer speed at this point

Proceeded to flush a 4 iron at 234 carry after the session on my radar and another at 217 which would be a game changer on tight holes.

This is the real deal. I have made it through 5 sessions and the results are quite good.

What length driver do you play and which launch monitor are you using to get speed?

Did a driver fitting yesterday... Gamer swing is steady around 100 MPH which is disappointing on 1 hand compared to my numbers during swing training which are regularly around 107+ (and 115 without a ball). But also 5 MPH faster than during a demo day in May.

On the positive side, no new drivers beat out my gamer F9 and my launch and spin were in the ideal range on Trackman and in the ping fitting charts for my delivery. The G425 LST came close with the stock Alta CB shaft. I asked the fitter if any of the current upcharge shafts would offer any benefit and the response was NO...

I guess I need to pickup yards the old fashioned way with some lessons and get back on Fit for Golf in addition to Stack. Then figure out ways to add speed on the course while maintaining control and strike location.

My physio recommended a minimum of 1-2 weight training sessions per week to keep my body in good enough shape to withstand the loads from speed training after I went in to have some persistent hip tightness looked at. I've also been having persistent tightness in my back and neck as well over the past few weeks even with dropping the Stack to 1-2x per week.

Judging by my speeds in the Neural Drive program, it also looks like I am at a plateau along with the fact my driving distance numbers have decreased 3-5 yards since the start of the season. (Some of this could be course conditions). A shift in focus back toward strength training is needed to boost force output and keep increasing output.

Just curious in creating a DIY version with my 3d printer. How much does the shaft/grip weigh (grams) and how much does the screw on head weigh? Obviously, without any weights on. Thank you in advance! Great thread.

I use a 45 inch driver (not 48 like some of the guys posting on twitter to get fake distance results) and I use the Swingspeed Radar (Blue) to measure speed.

I have since increased my SS by 1 MPH since posting this
