With 2 Kids I get so few open days to go play that the weather doesn't really stop me when I want to go. I have rain pants, Jacket and gloves. With my body staying dry and no need to keep the clubs dry due to the gloves it really isn't that bad. I have had to stop and hunker down in the middle of a fairway before just Holding onto my bag and umbrella till the worst pasted, but once it was gone it was all good. The key is knowing which courses in your area can handle the downpour without flooding. Multiple times I have been 1 of maybe 5 people on an entire course (Once due to rain, once due to severe wind). Its kinda nice to have a course all to yourself sometimes. That said, CA looks to have started another drought so not sure how many rainy days I'll actually encounter... When I lived in SF, I remember when I first moved there was a drought and then it rained for like 3 months, then it was the mudslides and then back to the drought. But I felt most course out there handle down rain well when it did rain. Like Florida courses, they get a daily down pour around 2-3pm.. so they are used to getting that rain.
