Best Car to Carry Your Clubs?

Recommended Posts

So, here's one that's loosely related to this category, but...well, it doesn't fit anywhere else, haha.

golfbags.jpg

What is the best car for golfers? Is there a best way to carry your clubs in comfort and protection? Question was posed over on a UK site (ATTN: EU readers!), and personally I like #2 on their list (link:https://uk.sports.yahoo.com/news/best-cars-golfers-073157443.html?) but thought I would get a perspective from around the globe! Maybe we can compile the top choices here and create a poll 😉

Whenever I shop for a car I take a set of clubs with me. If they don't fit easily, then no deal. Some car salesmen get it and some think I'm crazy. Current golfing vehicle.

2018 Chevy Impala. Comfortable cruiser, decent gas mileage, fits 3 sets of clubs plus three pieces of luggage in the trunk. Can't do a foursome unless it is a golf only day trip.  I like a sedan as a golf vehicle. Everything is hidden in the trunk. Very helpful where club theft is common in tourist golfing areas. Seen to many smashed windows in SUV's with clubs stolen.

The Impala was a car I considered when I was shopping  for cars.  Huge trunk.  I wanted something a little sportier, so SUVs were out, and most sporty SUVs don't really have much room without the backseat down.  I also like the sedan, so all clubs and luggage are hidden from view.

I have a 2014 Dodge Charger R/T.  I can get two golf bags and two roll aboards or two SM pushcarts in the trunk with the back seat up.  My bag is a stand bag and my wife's bag is a cart bag.  I'm sure I can get 4 stand bags in the trunk for a day trip.

I bought a VW Atlas and it’s huge. Interior cargo space rivals a Tahoe for a fraction of the price. My pit rides comfortably in the back along with our luggage for trips. That includes plenty of space for clubs.

Well, any minivan, but most men don't want to go there.  3 years ago I was shopping for an SUV and had picked out one based on research and looks.  I took my clubs with me and they wouldn't fit without folding down the rear seat so I didn't even drive it.  Ended up going up one size in the manufacturer's line up.

Honestly any hatch... This is the car I bought when I moved here. Fits my partner, 3 dogs, golf clubs and more! 2010 BMW i116 and her name is Zelda. Few extra bonuses are if you have a clicgear or friends Clubs it's a quick fold seat down and your off!!

I actually have choices sitting in the driveway. But the Impala was chosen for golf specific reasons. Big trip I can put the car top bubble on the Sorento and four sets fit up there.  For style there is the blacked out Charger. For a local jaunt the Mazda 6.

Will be rocking one this fall when we have our third, just not enough space in SUVs, and don't want to squish the kids together in at least one car. Though I will still keep the Subaru Legacy I have which has solid trunk space, clubs fit no problem and couple probably 3 bags and maybe even 4.

I had a Passat TDI that had loads of trunk space for clubs & pull cart.  I really liked that car but VW gave me an offer to buy it back that was to good to pass up.

The Ford Fusion I have now has enough room in the trunk for a set of clubs and if you wiggle it in the pushcart fits too.

F150 here so plenty of room for everything. I’ve been contemplating downsizing and will definitely have to make club and pushcart fitting a priority when that time comes.

Take that Chevelle put a black roof on it, 396 with 375 hp and you got the car I bought new in 1966 for $3,300.

Loved that car.

I actually have choices sitting in the driveway. But the Impala was chosen for golf specific reasons. Big trip I can put the car top bubble on the Sorento and four sets fit up there.  For style there is the blacked out Charger. For a local jaunt the Mazda 6.

The Charger is a police magnet.

2016 SORENTO,   Zero blue lights in my rear view mirror in 4 years.

2014 MAZDA6,  Two blue lights in 6 years

2016 CHARGER,  Four blue lights in 1 year

2018 IMPALA,  Zero blue lights in 2 years.

I've never had any blue lights behind me in 7 years.  When I bought it new in 2014, many people thought it was a police car.  It is the same color as unmarked state police cruisers.  I could see cars coming up behind me, and all of a sudden they would slow way down... until they got close enough to see it wasn't a stater.

I have also had fun with the little pocket rocket cars.  One day as I went under a freeway overpass, a little car comes barreling down the onramp in front of me and hit 80mph... in a 60 mph zone.  I punched it and pulled right up behind him; he slowed way down to 60 mph.  🤣  I pulled off at the next exit!!

Doesn't work anymore; car still looks new, but it doesn't look like the new cruisers!

We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

Having checked when my wife got one, I'm still going with a Kia Seltos S. My bag and cart will fit without putting the seats down. Can't say the same thing about the same sized Chevy Trailblazer or Mazda CX-30 or even the bigger Kia Sportage.
