Saw the replay on GC, it’s a great watch.  Bunch of Kids having fun.  Brooks & Bryson came together well, DJ & JT we’re funny.  Finau was letting loose.  They definitely celebrated their victory as a Team.

This could be the start of a trend or not - I know of several very good you f Euro players, throw in Rahm and Rory as the veterans - I wouldn’t be writing their obituary so fast. 
 

If I’ve learned one thing in all professional sports it’s that no one is as good as they look when they are winning big or as bad as they look when they are loosing big - except the Orioles on baseball and Giants in football. Both are miss managed messes.  

I didn't question EU wildcards but with the FedEx cup ending and the amount of ranking points available I think it meant the form players natural moved to the top of the US rankings. In Europe the Race to Dubai still has over a month to go and apart from the BMW PGA the ranking points for the other European tournaments are pretty small and didn't really affect the team. On form players like Westwood, Fitzpatrick and Fleetwood would have struggled to qualify but then you look at the replacements, Rose and rookies like MacIntyre or a 48 year old Richard Bland would not have changed the result. Westwood qualified based on form from 12 months ago this just doesn't seem to be the best methodology to ensure the best form players get into the team.

I agree with everything except the part in red, no one is worse covering golf than Joe Buck. Kay was horrible unfortunately...she's no Dottie Pepper (who I think does a good job on course).

One thing I need to point out was how Spieth, Xander, Scottie, Collin simmered down the crowd on different holes so their opponents could play in silence. That's commendable sportsmanship and it gets you respects from fans of both teams!

I don't think you find too many better character guys around than those 4.  I mean the whole US Team seems pretty good in that regard, but those four and probably Tony Finau you can't ask for better sportsmanship or leadership. 

He's a bit under the radar of the others as he hasn't won a major, but I'm really excited to see what Scheffler does the next 5 to 10 years.  I think he will have a great career and possibly win multiple majors.  Had what 3 Top 10 finishes this year in the majors.  The only reason I say possible, is look who he's competing against,  Morikawa, Spieth, JT, Zalatoris Bryson, Brooks etc.  Those guys could all "steal" majors from each other.

Definitely an exciting time for US Golf right now.

Yep, I meant to include him and plain forgot.  But yes, 100% he is potentially another very strong member for the next 15 years.

Very good point, although that does work both ways.  Thomas Pieters was a world beater for the Euro's at Hazeltine, and there were plenty of post-2016 Ryder Cup assessments of what a force to reckon with he was going to be.  Maybe he still will be, but two cups have since passed without him even making the team.

Yep, it sure does.  I was burned by him in at least two or three major pool contests

And speaking of never heard from again and Anthony Kim, that 2008 RC team he was on is really something amazing when you think of it.

These were the RC Rookies on that team.  And they won 16.5 to 11.5  I think it's fair to say that almost every one of them has had less than Hall of Fame career.  What is there, 1 major between the group with Ben Curtis.   And this years group has already exceeded that with Morikawa's 2, and throw in Cantlay's Fed Ex Cup and Xander's Olympic Gold and it shows that this group could really be headed for something special as I mentioned before.   It will be fun to watch.

Was a great weekend of golf, and USA fully deserved the win. Worried about how Team Europe will be able to make the next few Ryder Cups competitive. 

It may be because there are not many people out on the course so I noticed it more, but I was getting really fed up with the amount of time taken to take shots (both sides). I know people have spoken about it every week, but it was ridiculous. Id love to see some sort of shot clock introduced to the Tours etc. Once they get to the ball they have 1 minute to take the shot. Cant see it happening though.

Agree. Slower than normal tour play... now that's saying something.  It seemed Rahm and Sergio were using it as a strategy during their 4 ball matches; Sergio especially.  Someone mentioned that he learned the trick from Seve. We'll likely never see a shot clock on the US Tour and even less likely at the Presidents or Ryder Cup events.

While I loved watching the competition and seeing the beauty of the course, listening to the fans was terrible. The way they cheered for the mistakes of the Europeans and could not applaud their shots was disgusting. The ugly American stereotype personified and on full display.

Totally agree.  I felt embarrassed a number of times and wondered what our friends across the pond must be thinking. The only good side is that, at least for now, we're talking a minority of patrons that shat it up for everyone and give the American golf fans a bad image. 

No doubt they spend time listening to replay's of their rude and idiotic hollering with their buddies... dipsticks.

That “idiotic hollering” makes watching regular PGA events unbearable at times.

Yep the DL3 thing was announced a while ago.  Yes it does appear Zach Is in line for Rome.   I guess either Tiger or Phil would be appropriate for Bethpage 2025.   But I believe it will be Phil barring anything unexpected  happening.

Honestly, it was expected. My partner watched some of it with me and she commented on how bad it was but it wasn't any worse than I expected it to be, Its been the same for a long time. That doesn't make it right though
