Those look good. Only other black irons Ive like the look of are the miuras.

Yeah the black mg2 wedges a custom spider. I would pay for and game that bag easily

I'm a bit biased, but if someone were interested in goo-filled black irons, I'd recommend taking their $1,700 and buying three sets of Sub 70 699 Pros.

I'm a bit biased, but if someone were interested in goo-filled black irons, I'd recommend taking their $1,700 and buying three sets of Sub 70 699 Pros.

I’m going to try to compare these at a golf tec when I get my fitting to optimize my bag. I’ll let you all know the results

They certainly look cool. Not sure I could game them though. I was always a fan of them in chrome tho. I guess I like my irons light and my wedges dark!

The real questions is this though:

Since were seeing a special edition, is this the official last hoorah for the P790s? I know the 770s aren’t a direct replacement, but maybe next year we do see a direct replacement.

Thinking along the lines of Titleist with the slate blue finish is the second year of production on the SM8s.

The 790s are a hot commodity and I highly doubt tm dumps them for something else. The 770s are a different beast and another hot commodity.

They certainly are! My friend at golfers warehouse said custom orders are out to September or something like that. 
 

I would be surprised too, but wasn’t sure if this could be a leading indicator that something else was coming. 
 

with how little they changed from version 1 to version 2 I’d be surprised to see something more than a revision on them.

The difference are more than just a little. The face is significantly thinner, they increased the size of the sweet spot. Change the offset in the long irons and have a shorter blade length in the scoring clubs. Iirc they significantly increased the size of the tungsten as well as changed the topline design. 
 

Offering a change in color is nothing new to TaylorMade or titleist. TM did black p790s in the orignal version and titleist released black ap2 and ap3 in the 718s. For titleist and other brands a mod cycle color release is a way to get some interest going again and boost sales.

They look sweet! Love the all black/white, just a tick cleaner looking than gen1 IMO. Also they are listed on the TM website at the low low price  of $1,399 just FYI, so no markup compared to the chrome version.
