They put me in the smoke black 6.0, I recently ordered the Smoke Green 6.5tx which is supposedly a spin killer!

again lessons and fixing my swing is the longer term goal, just frustrating when I shoot a 97 and the majority comes from trying to recover from the tee shot being way right

Shafts don’t significantly reduce spin by themselves. If someone hits down on the driver going to a lower spinning shaft is still going to cause high sling because of how the club is being delivered.

Black 6.0 to smoke green 6.5tx is a big jump in stiffness and profile. Will be curious to see what you think of that shaft and how it affect your swing and ball flight

Depends on if you have the swing speed to launch a ball with a shaft that stiff; I swing +115 and couldn’t really get the flight I wanted with it. Might depend on how you load it and how aggressively you transition...

Very aggressive transition

going to the range tomorrow to find out. Swinging it just in back yard I like how it feels heavier and more stout

Which shafts from Accra are designed specifically for fairway woods. I thought I was pretty familiar with Accra and don’t ever recall seeing them have a shaft only for fairways.

I do recall something about the aerotech but I’m not a fan of the steelfiber in irons so they’ve never really been a brand ive done any research on

All Accra FX Series shafts have a separate fairway wood (and hybrid) shaft series, generally I three different weights. For example, all of the FX 2.0 shafts include dedicated fairway wood shafts in 65, 75, and 85 gram models. This has been the case for many years, since Accra introduced their DyMatch shaft series, which was the predecessor to the FX shaft line.

@RickyBobby_PR So after a solid range session the driver is set at B1 and the 6.5Tx shaft is definitely heavier and harder to get around but it is going much straighter with only about 10 yards loss.

For some reason the rapsodo wasn’t picking my swings as much, I think the phone was in low power mode. Still hitting the ball high.

Not surprised you feel it to be heavier your smoke black 6.0 if it’s the 60g version weight 59g uncut and has a torque of 3.5, if it’s the 70g version then it’s same torque and 68g uncut.

the green 6.5tx 60g version is 3.0 torque which doesn’t seem like a lot but for some can dramatically change the feel and weighs 65g uncut. If it’s the 70g version then it’s 2.8 and 74g.

The harder to get around also not surprising especially if you have an over the top swing which based on your comment about spin is probably the case.

Without seeing video of your swing with the black and again with the green it doesn’t sound like the green is helping you not make this ott move as you say the ball is still going high and that you have lost more yardage.

here’s a pic comparing shaft profiles. The original hzrdus black and smoke black really didn’t change in overall profile. pX just softened the shaft a bit with the smoke version. You can see how much stiffer the tx is and how different is it from the non green rx version.

I will try to get rapsodo tomorrow when I play see if I can get the video. I am losing distance but it’s ending up straighter than before.

The chart is showing how much more the mid and butt sections of the green 6.5tx is stiffer than black as you go from the tip to the butt.

PX stated when the 6.5tx game out it was designed to reduce spin for the strongest of swingers. Usually not a profile that fits swing speeds under 110 and/or those with smooth transition/tempo

Gotcha, I am right around that 110 but my transition is very quick so we’ll see how I score with it, I can always go back

You are way over swinging. Your right arm folds well past 90* (first pic) and from this angle it’s hard to tell but you look to not have much hip rotation. Would need to see a direct down the live video to really tell.

second pic shows how your entire body is used to start the swing which leads to the way over the top swing in the third pic that gets the clubhead way outside and causing you to hit down and across the ball as we see in the last 2 pics.

This action is going to lead to high spin numbers and the left to right ball flight. The amount of that movement will depend on what your face and path are like.

Not sure if you are working with and instructor or not. Here’s a video that might help if you aren’t.

I have been, golftec. He yells at me for overswing every day. He says it’s purely a miracle that I get my hands through (which says is hard part)

I have an overswing addiction, but don't quite swing it back that far. Biggest thing for me is gaining body awareness. Just for body awareness purposes, film a shot where you feel like your backswing is for a half swing pitch shot. Bet you it ends up being at least a normal full backswing or even longer.

This has been a good thread with some good info.    Thanks for starting it.

As for your swing, I am vey envious and jealous of your potential.  As pointed out you do have too long of swing and a big OTT move. But you appear athletic enough, once you learn to correct those things, you are going to have massive distance and likely become a very good player.  @RickyBobby_PR is correct, there isn't going to be a shaft that makes that much difference in the spin when you come OTT like that.

Good luck on your quest!
