Kirkland ball vs any 2-piece?

Recommended Posts

I think I remember on a recent “No Putts Given” someone saying that no one should ever play a 2-piece ball and if cost is a concern, then just use the Kirkland, am I remembering that right?

And what’s the general reasoning there? Better control/spin around the green?

Thanks.

Basic logic yes. 2 piece balls offer no advantage off the tee and provide minimal stopping power around the greens. The main attraction is cost; which the Kirkland ball eliminates.

Gotcha, thanks.

Kirkland ball is the best value in golf... it’s actually insane.

the next cheapest urethane ball is basically double the price...

It’s not the perfect golf ball or anything, and the last version spun a bunch... but it’s a decent ball at an insane price.

4 piece ball is hopefully out soon...

Mavrik 9 degree - Ventus Black 7X

Mavrik 13.5 Degree - Hazardus Smoke

Sub70 19 degree - Proforce V2 8F5

Sub70 4u - Proforce V2 8F5

Sub70 5i - DG S400

Adams CMB 6-GW - Project X 6.0

Sub70 54 (286) and 58 (JB Low Bounce) - S300

SeeMore Trimetal Mallet (Custom fit and built... Kudos to Cody)

And as always, Kudos to Craigers.

The Kirkland 3 piece has a a urethane cover too, which at the price is great value.

No doubt QC is not as 'tight' as more premium brands, but that's not unreasonable to expect given the price difference.  The nearest 3 piece urethane competitor  I know of is the Inesis 900, which (in UK) is just under twice the price, but still great value.

Basically, both are well worth a try.

Yeah, I know the v1 was a top value in the 2019 ball comparison. I’m looking forward to seeing how the v2 does this year.
$1/ball is an easy choice.
My favorite that I’ve played with is the Snell MTB-X. It goes really far and checks up well on the green. But I usually save those for rounds with friends.
