Sun Mountain Cart Bag - unofficial review

As we get ready to travel back up north for the summer, we made a 'last stop' at the PGA Superstore in Bradenton to pick up golf equipment. The closest real golf store for us in Ohio is about a 75 minute drive so it made sense to do some buying down here since PGASS is just down the road.  My Sun Mountain bag in Ohio is on it's last legs with the outside pretty shabby looking and the internal dividers ripped so it makes removing clubs frustrating. My wife and I bought Bag Boy Chiller Bags this year to keep in Florida and while they're nice, I missed some of the features of the SM bag. 

2021 SM bag vs. 10 yr old SM bag and Bag Boy: On the new bag there is less 'fabric' to fade away - including the top 'handles' which are vinyl. And since I bleed red, white and blue, the colors matched my personality.

 

The front pockets in the new SM bag - appear to be deeper and a couple are cloth lined. I particularly like the magnetic closure of the top front pocket where I would generally store my LRF. There is one extra pocket on the front of the new bag - the sides have the same number of pockets.

There are also a few new additions to this bag that I really like. Plastic D clips on both sides big enough for your gloves. I'm constantly changing out my gloves so being able to velcro them and air them out is a nice feature. 

  

And the cart straps on the back - I'll be anxious to try these out on both my riding and walking carts - I'm assuming they'll keep the bag in place without having to 'compress' the bag with a strap which will also be less wear and tear. 

Both of my previous bags - the old SM and the Bag Boy have 14 slots. I decided to change it up and have a bag with only 5. This may alleviate the torn cloth dividers years down the line. So far I'm pretty happy with my purchase and I'm confident it'll meet my needs.

Really like the clips - the one thing I’ve found that I like in a cart/push cart bag is that it is stable if you stand it up when you take it out of the trunk.

How’s this one for that?

I recently bought a cart bag and am very pleased with that feature - looking at yours, I’m extremely jealous of those D clips - smart feature IMO.

No problem standing up. But then that's not a problem with the old SM or the new Bag Boy. On the latter I improvise with a velcro strap for gloves but generally can't get more than 1 glove on it.

Sun Mountain golf bag is a good choice. I hope you enjoy it.

I have the Sync bag with 15 club dividers. It fits perfectly on the pull cart and the riding cart. I like it. They make quality bags.
