3D printer... who's got one?

What do you need to print something?  Is there a way to "scan" an item if you have it in hand to copy?  Sorry, if that's a stupid question, but I'm ignorant in that subject.

You need an .stl file to print it...there are websites like thingverse and others that have plenty of items that you can print free, there is also a lot of places that will sell you an STL file for printing or you can learn to design your own prints in software like tinker cad

How hard would it be to design a piece that would simulate the Top Lok portion of a Bag Boy cart?  I would love to have that piece to put on my CG3.5+ so I could utilize it for a Bag Boy bag.

Can you answer another dumb question? What the neatest (subjective) thing you have printed with it? Love to see some pictures as well.

There was an 11 x 11 page poster of it's never raining at night in Philadelphia available on the FX website in the this time last year, but I didn't have a printer. I do now have one, but can't find it in any place. If I could print it, I'd be so grateful.

I have the Elegoo Mars resin printer. I also had the Ender 3 PLA printer but it was not user friendly for a first printer and I couldn't get it right, so I sold it and bought the Mars.

The Mars was super easy set up and got to printing right away. Resin printing is a bit messier than PLA though. You need gloves when handling the print as it's not 100% cured and you don't want to get the resin on your hands. You then need to wash it in rubbing alcohol and cure it under an UV blacklight. They sell separate washing/curing machines but I found a light on Amazon for $20 and it works.

I play Dungeons and Dragons so I use the printer to make my own gaming miniatures rather than buy them. The minis run anywhere from $5-$100 each, so this printer should pay for itself in no time.

Here's an Ogre that I printed. There's a few dedicated people that put hundreds of STL files online for free, and that's a big help.
