SPY VIP GolfSpy Dave Posted October 13, 2011 SPY VIP Share Posted October 13, 2011 So I just thought that I would share some photos of the latest addition to the always expanding GolfSpy Dave putter hoard. This one is a Byron Morgan Bombora with a welded on Hi-Beamâ„¢ long neck. The putter is carbon steel with an oil can finish, big tuna face milling, and is almost face balanced (3:30 hang). If you are unfamiliar with Byron's Bombora or Da Kine models, they are really worth checking out. While Byron is a master of metal with all of his putters, these two models can be changed and tweaked in seemingly infinite ways to meet the specs and wants of the customer. Matt Saternus
Beautiful putter, Dave. Which Bombora headshape is that? Quote Follow me on Twitter: @MattSaternus
SPY VIP GolfSpy Dave Posted October 14, 2011 Author SPY VIP Share Posted October 14, 2011 Beautiful putter, Dave. Which Bombora headshape is that? I think that it is Ala Moana, but it sort of looks like a combination between all three (Ala Mo, InBetweens, and Secrets). It is an early prototype. Maybe the shape path was not yet well defined. finalist
I think this may be the only Bombora with that grind. I could be wrong. I remember seeing one at the mixer that looked like it, so this may be it? If so, the Tuna Milling is an extra deep style and was only done on the first few Bomboras. finalist
..nice use of the TM symbol for the Hi-Beam. I wonder what the Super Rat is calling their patent infringement neck? Quote I spy with my little eye something...
SPY VIP GolfSpy Dave Posted March 26, 2019 Author SPY VIP Share Posted March 26, 2019 Forgot all about this putter so I thought that I'd bump the topic to give it some more love. I wish that I had it today with a Rincon (flow) neck. Byron is a stud. cnosil and RobotDoctor 2 Quote Volvo Intorqueo All the cool kids follow me on twitter: @GolfspyDave If you are not a cool kid, following me on twitter will make you cool... I wish that I had it today with a Rincon (flow) neck. Byron is a stud. I love the back and how he made it similar to the Epic Day/Ping Zing style putter. Byron is a true putter craftsman. Byron is also a really terrific person. I am fortunate to be able to call him friend. He also loves a good Fish Taco. When I travel to the Huntington Beach area I have been known to drop by his shop and take him to a nice taqueria close by. Of course we might have to find a new place when I get a chance to visit him in Georgia. Here's my Byron Morgan gamer, an Epic Day. See the similarities between the Bombora and the Epic Day. Love that!!!! The first three pictures is with patina. The picture showing the sole (no patina) was taken by Byron and emailed to me when I had it made.
