Favorite Golf Hole Ever Played, and One You Want to Play Badly

Recommended Posts

Oh, I have no interest in a tips challenge, hahaha. I played Ross Bridge one day where it was all you could play so we played 54 holes out there. The idea of playing that course from 8,000+ yards seems like a complete waste of time/money for anyone other than a +HDCP capable of carrying 300+ with driver. It was all I could handle from the Orange/White Combo tees which is like 6,500 yards (I think I only broke 80 on one of the 18s). We did see one group ahead playing from the tips and they were constantly in trouble off the tee...did not look fun. Especially holes 3-5 which goes like 470 (par 4), 230 (par 3) and another 460 (par 4), I'll leave that to the pros and the guys who aspire to be pros.

I'll stick with the hole Jack said was his favorite hole, the 8th at PB.  When I played it I lipped out a par putt 😞  Such a beautiful hole, and 7, 9 or 10 are almost it's equal.  If I could pick another I would want to play, it would be the 16th at Cypress, the 13th at Augusta, or the Road Hole at the Old Course.

The 17th at TPC Sawgrass. Played 110 yds, pin back left, PW, hit front wood timbers, ball bounced to 6', made the putt! Nothing to it. Played final week before closing course for the Player's Tournament.  Heading for Scottsdale next week, playing TPC Stadium and can't wait for the 16th!

For me it would also be 17 at TPC Sawgrass - when a hole is what gets talked about for an entire week every year you know it's of interest.  I played it at 138, hit a beautiful 8 iron to 10 feet, 2 putt, par.

Mark me down as another one who wants to play 13 at Augusta.

Tour Exotics 3 wood is in the bag because we are allowed 14 clubs.  It's a great club for pulling balls out of the water or from bushes - you never want to put your hand into anything in Florida unless you are absolutely certain that it's safe.  There are rare wind conditions when I might hit it off the tee on a few holes that I play.

Has to be this par 3 at Port Royal in Bermuda....

Port Royal Golf Course // Go To Bermuda

The water really is that color and it is definitely a scary shot.

.... and who wouldn't want to take a bucket of balls to 16 at AGNC and try to
1. skip some across the water
2. see how close you can get to a hole in 1

This is a tough one. Do I say #9 of the Fazio Foothills at Barton Creek resort where I got my second hole-in-one as favorite played?

4th at Spyglass. There are 100 different ways to play this hole and the first time you play you are mind blown with the green slope and shape. One of the times I played it, my buddy and I played with an older couple. I made a great up and down for 4, he made birdie, the gentleman had a 1' for birdie and the woman made 2 from about 140. Hard to beat our combined foursome score.

13 or 16 at Augusta would be fun. But 16th at Cypress is just amazing!!

A fun but frightening tiny hole at Royal Troon, the postage stamp.  Easy if you hit it straight, not so, if you don’t.  Huge deep bunkers await your off-target wedge.

And the weird psychologically impairing par 3 over a huge ravine on the sea at Cruit Island Golf Club Ireland. Maybe hole 6.  145 yds. Tee off and hope you hold your balance and don’t tumble into the ravine.  There are several fun holes on this odd nine holer.

And I love hole no. 1 at the Machrihanish Golf Club, Kintyre Peninsula, Scotland, using a full driver over the sea and beach.  Daring to cut it off for distance, pot bunkers lie ahead if you nail it.

Myrtle Beach, Kings North course. The hole is called the Gambler and is a par 5. This hole always stands out when I think back on interesting holes. Go for the island fairway or go around the lake and play it safe.  I gambled and put a good drive down the island fairway and was about 20 short of going to long. Panic set in on the long approach all over water to the green which is almost surrounded by water again from that angle. I took an extra club and went long but shy of going in the water on the back side. Managed to make par so I was still content.

I don't really have a must play hole.

Played there on my first golf trip ever.  Ended our 4 day tourney there.  As a pretty new golfer, the hole scared the crap out of me.  Would love to play it again

OMG, I'm in Love!! Where is this course and I assume you're teeing off from the little peninsula that's to the Top right. This is a Par 3, right? Course looks Beautiful!

That's Mauna Lani in Hawaii. Yes, you tee off from that spot over an ocean inlet with ferocious winds. I don't recall the exact distance, but I do remember hitting 4 hybrid to the far left side of the green.

One of my favorite holes ever is the 6th hole at the Tournament Club of Iowa. It's a par 3 with extremely elevated tee boxes that plays to a narrow green that sits right on the bank of a very wide stream. I was looking for a photo of the hole to post and ran across a video that was taken of me playing the hole by someone else that I didn't even know existed....LOL

We played the course 2 days in a row, and I made birdie both days.....might be why I like it so much....LOL

As far as the hole I really want to play, I mean we all WANT to play Augusta but we never will, so I went with something more attainable

7th Hole at Pebble Beach

Such an iconic hole with amazing scenery

Favorite played...#18 at The Plantation Course at Kapalua...longest drive of my life at 400 yards, over the green in 2 from 185 out, chipped it close to finish with a birdie.

Want to play...too tough to decide...#7 at Pebble, #13 at Augusta, and many others.

What golf spy is teaching me early is that I need to play golf in North Carolina soon! Playing Old Edwards in September.
