Cally Epic Max LS for slow swinger?

Recommended Posts

We are the same age and have similar numbers. I did great with the Ping G400 LST, not as well with the 410 LST.  So much depends on your numbers.  Do you know them? Are you a high spin player?

The best thing to do is get fit.

Taylor Made Stealth 2 10.5 Diamana S plus 60  Aldila  R flex   - 42.25 inches

SMT 4 wood bassara R flex, four wood head, 3 wood shaft

Ping G410 7, 9 wood  Alta 65 R flex

Srixon ZX5 MK II  5-GW - UST recoil Dart 65 R flex

India 52,56 (60 pending)  UST recoil 75's R flex

Evon roll ER 5 32 inches

It's our offseason so auditioning candidates - looking for that right mix of low spin long, more spin around the greens - TBD

I wouldn’t approach this from a too much club head perspective. The shaft paired with a clubhead is more important as is whether a certain combo fits your swing.

As @revkev mentions the numbers will determine if something works for you or not.

Generally at that swing speed, most low spin club head will give you similar result, all will be decided with the shaft I'd say and how you hit them. Proper fitting would do the job. As for the head itself, its one of the best performer on the market at the moment, didn't see many website or fitter say that this head wasn't good, it might not be optimal for you but it is definitively good for sure. You give me a choice tomorrow to have a deal on an epic max LS head at 75% of retail price or a sim2 at 50%, would still go with the epic max ls. Sadly most review are on the high swing speed.

I'm a 64 year old 90 mph swing speed player looking at the Cally Epic Max LS for it's fade capabilities. Is this too much club for me? I hear it's not as low spin as other Cally low spin models. What do you think?

Depends on the shaft, dynamic loft and launch angle

if you can get the ball at the proper height the low spin characteristics will add distance

Take a look at the data on here: https://mygolfspy.com/the-best-driver-for-slow-swing-speeds/

Its no SLDR. According to the MGS test in the swing speed, it average close to the same spin as a TSI2

I hit the LS during a demo day and was only swinging 95 MPH. The fitter went to 60 X flex and turned it down to 8 degrees to try and drop spin as much as possible with the stock shaft. Between lighter shafts and higher lofted heads, you will not have issues at 90 MPH.
