cjeffs12
I have been regripping my own clubs for years now, but I am trying to regrip my SIM Max 3 wood, and the tape seems to have meshed into the graphite lol I kid, but I usually flame it then peel it by hand. I spent almost an hour and barely even got a quarter of it gone. If someone knows an easier method without damaging the shaft, or getting a new shaft ( that did cross my mind), I will be really grateful. Kanoito
Meshed into the graphite? That's new lol Usually the tape is so old and hard that it peels right off. When not, I use some adhesive remover and rub it off. Nail polish remover works on steel shafts, not sure if it will damage the graphite surface. tony@CIC 1 Quote SpeedZone 9* w/ Aldila Rogue Silver 60 S X2 Hot 3 Deep 14.5* w/ Aldila Tour Green 75 S JetSpeed 5W 19* w/ Matrix Velox T 69 S OR Super LS 3H 19* w/ Kuro Kage Black 80 S JPX919 Forged 4-PW w/ Modus3 105 S Vokey SM7 50/08F, 54/14F & 58/08M w/ Modus3 115 Wedge ER1 34" w/ SuperStroke Fatso 2.0 Pro / H2NO Lite Cart Bag / 3.0 / NX7 Pro LRF My reviews: MLA Putter // Titleist SM7 // PING i500 // PuttOUT Link to comment
hckymeyer
Not sure if this is a special weird case, but in general a heat gun on low just to soften up the tape and glue and then peal off. If you have sticky gunk left on it after the tape is gone try getting some Goo Gone. Spray it on and let it sit a minute then wipe off with paper towels. Might have to work on it for a little bit. cjeffs12 and tony@CIC 2 Quote Driver: SLDR w/ Fujikura Ventus Black 3w: '16 M2 hl w/ Diamana D+ 82 5w: Launcher HB w/ HZRDUS Yellow Hybrid: 22 deg. Yes I’ve never had this problem before, I just cannot seem to get under it and when I do it just won’t peel in strips instead it just falls apart, so either Taylormade uses really good adhesive or I just have a really stubborn piece lol tony@CIC 1 Quote STEALTH 2+ 10.5* FUJIKURA VENTUS TR BLACK 6X ZX MKII 3W 15* Project X HZRDUS Smoke Blue RDX U.S.A. 8TX Stealth+ 19 Mitsubishi Tensei Pro White 1K 85TX ZX7 4-PW KBS $Taper 130 BLACK PVD RTX 6 Zipcore 50/54.10 Full Project X 6.0 GLIDE 4.0 60.10S DYNAMIC GOLD TOUR ISSUE S400 ER2v MIDLOCK 40” TOUR X NX9 with Slope Link to comment

dlow206
I use a mini torch to very lightly heat up the tape. Like not very long at all, and just quickly moving the torch along the tape. Shaft should still be comfortable to touch bare handed, otherwise too long. cjeffs12
Update, thank for all the advice, I was finally able to strip all the tape off. I literally burned my fingers because I had to peel as it was hot otherwise none came off, but with Johnnie Walker to help the grip is on and I did not give the shaft the chop. I really do appreciate the advice Quote STEALTH 2+ 10.5* FUJIKURA VENTUS TR BLACK 6X ZX MKII 3W 15* Project X HZRDUS Smoke Blue RDX U.S.A. 8TX Stealth+ 19 Mitsubishi Tensei Pro White 1K 85TX ZX7 4-PW KBS $Taper 130 BLACK PVD RTX 6 Zipcore 50/54.10 Full Project X 6.0 GLIDE 4.0 60.10S DYNAMIC GOLD TOUR ISSUE S400 ER2v MIDLOCK 40” TOUR X NX9 with Slope Link to comment
