Popular Post GolfSpy MPR
Alright guys, time to fess up: how many clubs in your bag have switched already since you decided on your bag setup for this year? I'm not talking about those of you who have rotation clubs (driving iron vs. hybrid for certain courses, etc.). I'm talking about clubs that have been benched for more or less steady replacements. For me, it's two: I like the Adams dHy, but when I gave it more reps on the simulator, my older Callaway XR Pro 20° hybrid beat it out for consistently hitting that gap in my bag. I also grabbed the Odyssey Big Seven Toe Up from Callaway Pre-owned just before the season started, and it's been in my bag for most of my rounds. It's not pretty, but I'm putting just fine with it so far. I also tweaked my driver setup: I cut down a Project X HZRDUS Smoke Black shaft an inch, and I've been using that with my driver set at 10° and the weight all the way in the toe. What you have changed up in your bag this season? Since this year has been abnormal for me in relation to golf, I'm playing about a quarter as much as I normally do at this point. I'm going to take a liberty extend back to the end of last year. I'm with you at two(ish). Second has been a tryout basis, with one standout holding the starting position. The old blue crowned vapor fly 3w went to the bench early this year in favor of a Mavrik 3w, which has added some needed consistency in the fairway wood slot, and has comfortably created a much better gap over my hybrid/long irons. The big surprise is the putter. I've gone from my ER2 w/ gravity grip to an OG Ping Anser w/ Ping blackout pp58 pistol grip. Evnroll has held a firm spot in the bag for 2 years and while I was playing great (for me) golf at the end of last year I kept having consistency issues with the putter. Out of frustration I tried a couple of different sticks that are sitting in the bullpen and have landed on a putter that is close to twice my age, with no sight lines/dots or anything. My make percentage has gone up notably, and my consistency from inside 20 feet has increased notably; this is all with about 10% of the practice that I would normally devote time to. A couple things I have noted is that the OG Anser is MUCH lighter than the ER2 (320ish headweight compared to 370). And the lie angle seems to be more upright. With the limited amount of golf I've been able to enjoy this year, I don't feel like I am fighting the Anser as much as I felt I was the ER2. I would like to eventually have the ER2 fit/adjusted and continue the putter battle, but that will have to wait for now. edingc, Nunfa0, tigerpill and 5 others 8 Quote Gameday Vessel Sunday 2.0/ Ogio Silencer Dynapwr Carbon | Hzrdus Smoke Black Mavrik 3w | Evenflow Riptide FG Tour F5 Hybrid(20,23) | MCA Fubuki Staff Model CB 5-PW | DG 120 Vokey SM7 (50, 54, 58) | DG 120 Studio Stock 15 -ProV1x (left dash) Romans 10:9 Classic Bag Jones Collegiate Clemson Stand Bag Eye 2 Laminate 1973 Staff Dynapower 4-PW Anser DUO

The funny thing is, I went to the local golf shop to look for a 60* wedge...saw some utility irons in the pre-owned bag and hit 3 different ones and decided on the TM. juspoole
Haven't made many changes thus far. I'm definitely open to new shiny things in the bag, just haven't found anything to push me over the edge just yet to make the purchase. I'd be willing to try something different for a putter if I really found something I could have some confidence with. Fairly happy with my current putter but not over the moon either. Wedges same thing. Pretty happy with performance, but there could be something better out there. My big year for changes is likely coming next year as I think I'll be getting new irons and a new driver. In the past, I've traded my old stuff in, I don't think I'll do that this go around since I think I have pretty good equipment. Hearing myself say that out loud makes me rethink doing anything. I hadn't seen much of a distance gap between the Hybrid and the 17 degree fairway so I said goodbye. I came across a second hand Ping 7 wood at a store in Dallas and decided to give it a try in place of my 22 degree hybrid. So far it appears to be a keeper. It is easier to hit and and I can control trajectory easier with it than the hybrid. I've been going back and forth between my 20 year old Ping B60 and my sixties vintage Bullseye. Might be time to look and more recent technology in the putter realm. MattWillGolf 1 Quote Callaway Driver, 4 and 7 fairways. Mizuno 923 Hot Metal 6-LW. A friend told me my swing is as smooth as Tennessee Whiskey. If so, I often think it may have come out of the barrel to soon.
jneff11
I've rotated out an ole Adams Idea 3 Hybrid for a TaylorMade Sim Made 3 Hybrid stiff gaining 15 - 20 yards more. That resulted in a 15 - 20 yard gap between my 5 iron and the new hybrid. I've been working on hitting my 5 iron true to reduce that gap. Fieldrj
I added a Mavrik Pro AW to replace my 50* Vokey SM6. The AW matches my irons set so I get more consistency and a few more yards. Its been one of my best decisions this season, shot my 2 lowest rounds recently, dropped my handicap by about 4!
