azstu324 Posted June 10, 2021 Share Posted June 10, 2021 We're heading out early tomorrow (3 a.m.) for a 12 hr drive to our beloved town of Pacific Grove, CA located on the tip of the Monterey Peninsula. I'm starting a thread as a marker to post pics of my golf misadventures and maybe some favorite spots in-between. While this is mainly a family trip, I plan to get in a couple of rounds at 2 of my favorite fun little tracks in the area. Pacific Grove Golf Links is the first spot https://www.playpacificgrove.com/ . It's a Muni that has some Pebble Beach scenery without the price tag. The second spot is a smaller local track tucked between the Monterey Fairgrounds and the Monterey Airport called Monterey Pines. It's a par 69 that only runs about 5600 Yds but it's a beautifully laid out track that requires some thinking and I'll be playing sans-driver. I definitely wouldn't consider these "bucket list" courses by any means but they have more personal meaning to me as I golfed them regularly when we lived in the area. Yes.. we'll literally be staying within a half mile of the N entrance to Pebble Beach, but I won't be playing any fancy pants rounds on this trip. Other spots that we'll be paying a visit to are the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Dennis the Menace Park, Lover's Point, Asilomar Beach, Scenic 17 mile drive, Morse Botanical Reserve trails (looks out over Poppy Hills and Spyglass), and my favorite surf shop on the planet, On the Beach. We'll also be hitting up some favorite food spots like First Awakenings, Pavel's French Bakery, The Monarch Pub, Michael's Grill/Taqueria, and the one and only acid trip in a cone.. the PG Ice Cream Shoppe!
