Sub 70 849 Pro Driver

Recommended Posts

I've had my eye on this for a bit (849 Pro Driver).  The release date says June 2021... which is now halfway over.  I'm really curious to read some reviews once they come out.  Anyone hearing anything (paging @Sub70 ).

I just finally learned to hit a driver in the ballpark, so it's time to replace my old TM RBZ Stage 2 (the dings on the top are just not acceptable anymore).  I'm really looking forward to seeing how this turns out!

Thanks for the message!  We will have some by the end of the month so keep an eye out.  The first batch may go relatively quickly...but we'll have more ready in early July as well.

I am waiting for this as well although I can't decide between the Pro or the 849D. I spoke with jason last week and like everything else in the Covid era, supply issues are creating delays. I also play the 699Pro irons(4-AW) and if these drivers are anything like the quality and playability of the irons I will be a happy man.

Curious how that Sub70 Pro 3 wood is treating you. I currently play an old school Titleist 910F 13 degree and might be looking to get into some new technology.

Sub70 849D 9.0  EvenFlow Riptide 6.0 70G Stiff

Titleist TSI2 15degree  Mitsubishi Tensei AV Series 75 gram Stiff

Callaway XR 19 degree 5 wood that is a fairway finder.

Sub70 699Pro irons 4-AW, KBS Tour 120 shafts,  1 degree upright

Sub70 JB Raw wedges in 54 and 58 degrees

Odyssey O-Works 2 ball putter/Cleveland Huntington Beach Soft center shafted- whichever one isn't in "time out" at the time.

I like the 3W, but it hasn’t had a real working over yet… I tore my Achilles a couple weeks after I got it.

I have  the hzdrus black shaft, cut down 1/2”.  It has a very penetrating flight and just rips. We don’t yet get along all the time, but I like it a lot.

Looks like you can now get a 9* head with your choice of shaft.  While I have the swing speed to hit a 9, I'll probably hang on till the next ordering window to see what the options are.    (A lot of this depends on when I can swing again after my achillies injury... I'm hoping early/mid July)

I really can't offer much on that front.  I haven't personally compared it to any other specific OEM drivers.  We do a lot of testing and I'm sure someone at some point ran numbers against some other options...but I haven't seen anything on that.  We'll let customers and third parties validate the performance.  I wouldn't expect you to take me seriously if I told you it is very forgiving.  Obviously I'm a little biased.  Our 849D model will be the more forgiving option of the two though.  This one is going to be lower launching and more fade biased.

Thanks! How about spin reduction between the two?
