Cobra King Tec Hybrid

I saw this! Looks phenomenal and sadly RH only... but still very interested in seeing how this works for any or all that use it. I have noticed a trend with Cobra where when their RH only products stick around for a few cycles and gain some popularity they come out with a LH model.
Definitely something I would be interested in and knowing more about from our forum members.

Interesting product. Not Cobras first oversized hybrid, but looks to be aimed at more of the players market. 85g stock shaft. Super low lofts available. Weight forward to hit low bullets. Maybe picks up on some of the Super Hybrid action.

Haven't managed to see any reviews... Interested once the price comes down. I know it's the standard price for the top brands, but hell they're expensive.

Yep. I think you would see a lot more high lofted hybrids in the average players’ bags if they didn’t cost so much.

I've nearly jumped on one of these a couple times.  The price is a bit ugly, especially for someone like me, who's playing iron sets that have cost me less than the price of this one stick (aka cheap bass turd).

One use I thought of for this was to get the 2h and use it as a quasi 4w by delofting it.  Would allow me to bring in to play the array of heavier iron shafts for fairway use.  I already have an RIP Alpha 105 in an All Fit adapter that I could use with this stick.

I'm still stuck in my procrastination mode, though....

I have two rounds in with mine so far.  I have been on e of the folks that has absolutely hated hybrids, I had a tendency once every few balls to rope hook one off of the planet.  IN testing I narrowed it down to the 425 and King TEC.  In the end I went with the King TEC.

I have the 2hy, it is set at 18*, yes I actually added loft, which is unheard of for me.  I mean as a guy who can completely hook the crap out of a hybrid lofting up I never thought would be in the cards for me.  I hit the hybrid, 4 times in the first round and 3 times in the second round.  I never once had a ball hook, the setup is soooo neutral and to be honest I had two hybrid shafts sitting here ready to go into, and I pulled both of them out of the bag and am storing them.  The MMT shaft has worked sensationally well.

I have a Srixon ZXu 18* utility, a 7 wood that is turned down.  This flies directly height wise between the two, but a little closer in height to the 7 wood.  I normally keep those in the bag when I am just practicing and after the first round with the King TEC I pulled both of them out and unless I head to Scotland(and even then I think I can hit the hybrid low enough) I do not see myself putting either one of them back into the bag.

This is similar to the Callaway UW.  It is bigger than most hybrids, but yet smaller than most fairways.  The biggest difference is the offset, there is A LOT less with the Cobra than there is with the Callaway UW.

Far and away this has been exactly what I wanted.  I can hit it much higher than my Srixon Driving iron, and much lower than I I could a matching fairway wood.  I added some weight to the head(waiting on weights) and will cut down the shaft 1/2" and it should fit even better.  The low knockdown or stinger shot is much easier to play with this than a fairway and much easier to hit higher than a driving or SGI iron.

@PMookie Are you still enjoying your hybrid? I have the Radspeed version and love mine. It’s hot off the face and goes a lot further than I expected. Might be hooked on at least the Cobra hybrid. Still up in the air about the woods as I just got those in.

Still deciding… I do like it and from the fairway or rough it launches higher than the fairway metal I have, but I prefer the fwy off the tee. The course I generally play doesn’t really call for it except for a second shot into 18, a par 5, going for the green in two, so I haven’t hit it a lot. Since I don’t play in tournaments I don’t need to “pick” either club, so it’ll be in the bag until next summer, and if I decide to get rid of it I’ll just sell the head because the shaft is too valuable to get rid of!!!

I wish those SOBs would make it in lefty- like the more rounded toe instead of typical square-ish ones I've seen as of late. It's shaped like a mini FW is what I like, reminds me of a bigger F6 they made a few years ago but with the weights as well.

Seems like weights are coming back into play to keep them from the hookers and cutters...

I have mine still firmly in the bag and it will be staying other than in the heat of the summer the 2 iron may go back in.  I have mine in 17* and absolutely still love it.  I am adding lead tape to the shaft to get my strike more centered, but the flight and everything else of the stock MMT works pretty well for me.

I miss toe side, and therefore hybrids and I have never gotten along.....at all.  So the fact that this is still in my bag and I do not see myself replacing it is an absolute miracle with a hybrid.

This club kicked-out the Ping G425 LST fairway! The Cobra was much straighter for me and more consistent from a contact standpoint, more solid strikes making the ball go where it was intended. If you’re looking for a hybrid that doesn’t hook or want to go left, this is the answer! Can’t wait for it to warm-up, and for me to get on the road so I can hit it more often!
