How to Prevent Loosing a Club Headcover???

Recommended Posts

I just lost another headcover while walking using a golf caddy. I take the cover off and place it on the caddy, then put the club back in after a shot and forget to put the cover on. Walking down the course the cover falls off where I perched it and I lose it. Yes, I get distracted and am absent minded. What have you found to work  to keep from losing a headcover?

I used to play with four Titleist PTs at 13, 17, 20, and 23º,

and they all had unnumbered headcovers with contrasting wool tartan patterns.

These covers were quite expensive, but I never lost one.

When I removed one, I simply pulled it over a long iron until I replaced it.

Since I never converted to the big titanium driver, I played with the PTs for a very long time,

right up to when I had to give up the game for physical reasons.

Toward the end, I wasn't particularly concerned about scuffing the clubheads.

Once I pulled off a headcover, I placed it into a side pocket on the cart bag and left it there

for the remainder of the round. The bag room crew would replaced them onto the clubheads where

they'd be the next time I played.

Even if you never get to that point, the long iron trick should work well for you.

If you walk with a stand bag, though, it's harder and less convenient to do

than with a cart bag that's elevated and held still for for you.

If you walk with a trolley, however, it's equally convenient.

I have my alignment rods in my bag and when it take off the head over I put it over the alignment sticks.  Can’t fall off.

If I take a driving cart it always goes in the basket. If I use a pull or push cart I will leave it on the ground next to the cart but in line with the cart and where the ball lies. This way I have to see it when walking back to the cart. I would do the same for a stand bag if I carry.

Another solution is to pick up a glove keeper designed to keep work gloves hanging on your belt. But I would attach the one end to the D ring on your golf bag and then just clip the head cover to it when you take it off. You just have to remember to clip it on.

Best advice is just to create a habit of always putting it back on after every shot.  I only ever hear stories of people losing headcovers when they don't put it on and off after every shot.

My personal method is to take it off and always leave it on the top of my bag.  Then grab it and put it back on after I hit.  Also has the added benefit of covering up the slot I'd be putting the club back in anyway so I'd have to grab it and move it to get my club back in the bag.

I'm notorious for losing putter head covers. I walk a lot so I tend to forget to put them back on and it's not like I have a basket to drop them in when I take them off.

Following for some good ideas I can try 😉

I take mine off for each shot and put it over the umbrella handle and then after hitting the shot I put it back on the club.

When you take the headcover off, put it over the end handle of your umbrella.  Wherever you put it, do the same thing every time.
