I’m seeing people crying all over themselves on Twitter because Sabbatini is South African, but played for Slovakia. “Oh, he couldn’t beat South Africans in qualification.”

Um…. Well. He beat everyone, but Xander, in the actual tournament, EVEN the South Africans, so the whining is MOOT. Ugh. “Oh, but he wouldn’t have been in the Olympics.” Wow. He. Beat. Everyone. But. Xander. WHO CARES?!?!

Outside of MGS, I wish social media didn’t exist. I’d rather have people crying in their Wheaties in private again.

Not sure I'd go as far as everything outside of MGS, but I agree with the general sentiment. I don't have a Twitter, Tic-Tok, FB, or Instagram account, so I'm only basing my position on secondhand information .

That's a pretty good idea. There's been lots of comment about the current format being too boring.  It definitely is simplistic (you either finish top 3 or go home with nothing) but, unless we add Copper, Tin, and Zinc medals, not sure how else the individual test could be done?

That's a pretty good idea. There's been lots of comment about the current format being too boring.  It definitely is simplistic (you either finish top 3 or go home with nothing) but, unless we add Copper, Tin, and Zinc medals, not sure how else the individual test could be done?  

I thought it was cool seeing a seven-person playoff for the bronze medal. That is not something we would see in a normal tournament.

The advantage of a team score with men and women combined is that players who aren't in contention individually on the last day could still have an effect on the team score and getting a medal.

If Sabbatini became a Slovak citizen to help grow the game in Slovakia as he and his wife's cousin said, they sure got a shot in the arm with an Olympic Silver Medal to show off.

Nelly Korda almost shoots the second sub 60 round in LPGA history at the Olympics R2.  I just saw the highlights and it was an incredible round.  The 59 watch was on, only needing a birdie on #18... but then a DB with a wet ball on the second shot .  161 feet of putts made and not a hiccup through 17 holes... amazing.

With a cyclone forecasted to brush the area, it's now uncertain whether R3 will be the finishing round or they'll be able to complete the planned 72 hole event.

They keep talking about the excessive heat…temperatures in the 90’s and heat index over 100………in my part of the world we all that summer…basically everyday from June - early October

While in the AF, I flew into Yokota AB (about 1 hour NW of Tokyo) quite often through all seasons. Hot and humid was not that unusual this time of year.

Nelly really had to grind it out over the weekend but she held on for the gold!

One of the best finals of the year imo. Nellie and Lydia competing for the gold was  compelling golf.

I dropped off watching after the final group finished #4 and Lydia had just run off 3 straight birdies.  It's a good thing Nelly went REALLY low in R2 or she'd have been fighting for a silver or bronze.  Nice showing by Team USA!
