Tour Pros: Please Shut Up & Play

So tired of the Tour "Babies" complaining about equipment on tour. A few years ago it was the belly putter, now it's the arm-lock, greens book, rangefinders...I'm sick of all of you! Want to keep golf pure, then let's go back to persimmon and steel shafts, pull out the putter inserts, wound or even "featherie" balls! When Nick Faldo used an Odyssey DF putter with an insert in the 90's no one complained. I don't see anyone complaining about 460cc drivers or exotic graphite shafts! And your "entourage"...LOL! Did Jack have a traveling swing coach, psychologist, chef (other than Barbara), therapist, meteorologist, track-man analyst, driver, taster, dresser, barber...It's just ridiculous what these "babies" have to have to be pacified. Just sad! And you wonder why there are 5-hour rounds! Their brains are so scrambled they couldn't hit a fairway or green playing Putt-Putt!

No, but they have OB!!! My father in law and i forced my mother in law to take a stroke and distance penalty last weekend playing putt putt with my kiddos!

Last week I played and rode in a gas powered Yamaha cart.  It was loud and didn't have GPS.  WHY DID IT NOT HAVE GPS?

Along with 3D GPS course mapping, you can order lunch on #9 and #18, ice down your beverages with free ice using two installed Igloo coolers, and connect your smartphone to bluetooth speakers on the carts if you want, it's cool! Unfortunately you have to wade through a bunch of local ads (to help pay for the tech).

I think the Pros have always complained about this, that, or the other... but now we all get to hear it because of the all access coverage and endless press room questions and coverage. 

I would be interested to see how Jack, Arnie, Ben, Lee and Gary would handle being grilled over and over again about the same thing in front of the cameras and pitted against each other (real or sensationalized).  Reporters are good at what they do... being there to catch the little comment and exploiting it, or sideways glance as a competitor walks by,  then proudly displaying it on hour long talk shows so we can all "enjoy" (and replaying it ad nauseum).

And the reporters are only doing it because we, the viewer/reader eats it up.  We can't get enough!

We created the monster.  Now we must live with it.

I remember an anecdote from years ago.  Players were complaining about the inconsistent speeds of greens at a British Open.  The response from the R&A was, "That's what practice rounds are for."  Can you imagine the complaining if the PGA Tour had the same attitude?  Of course, even the R&A has changed.

You have to remember, the R&A isn't owned and operated by the players like the PGA Tour is.  A closer comparison to the R&A is the USGA, which similarly runs very few tournaments for professional golfers.
