Whаt іѕ the bеѕt FREE GPS gоlf арр?

Recommended Posts

Just tried the GHIN one the other day.  The green slope feature is just outstanding.  I believe it is only free for a limited time then $40 (?) a year.  I'll likely be purchasing the premium just for the greens alone.

I have both The Grint and Golfshot. However I use the paid version of The Grint mainly because it allows me to capture more stats when I use it to keep score. But they both work well whether with the free or paid version.

BTW, the USGA app now has one too, if you already have a USGA membership.

GHIN just launched theirs! Have not used it yet, but looks like there is a fee for "enhanced" data!

Yes I just started looking at it the other day. I don't appreciate that they "lock" the front and back of green distances as part of their premium features, but the hole diagrams look pretty good.

I now use a paid version of Golf Pad for use with my watch, but the free version does anything you could want on the course by phone.  I’ve found it stable, good on the battery, and accurate.

Some folks say golf messes up a nice walk.  That’s not true, golf makes a nice walk bearable.

So is the rumor that The Grint won’t work for handicaps true? Is the GHIN app better? @fixyurdivot?

I use mScorecard. It is really good as it provides several different views, hole view, green view as well as a score card that provides stableford scoring.

I've tried a lot of different free ones. Swing caddie, golfpad, etc etc but I've really enjoyed the TaylorMade app myroundPro. The gps seems a bit spottier than some of the others and by that I mean it can be delayed but I really like the stat tracking and strokes gained features. If you're looking only for distances most of the mainstream ones are pretty great.

This is really all you need to know. A lot of features are behind paywalls on the apps, but if all you want is gps it’s really just personal preference on the interface you like best. I’ve been using freegolftracker for years now. More than likely you’re going to need to mark the gps yourself, but all the stats are not locked so that’s cool.
