I was in V2 mode this morning.

May depend on the watch model, but the course not being found is discussed frequently with the V3 and the H4.  I don’t pay enough attention to know if the V2 is also impacted.    They could really solve the problem if the users had the ability to sync any course to the device in case it really isnt loaded.

Decided to seek out a watch repair shop (Fix It Fast) about 4 miles from the house. They were able to remove the screw and they said, free of charge! I returned home and installed the new band.

He said he just used a very small flathead that fit the screw.  I am very happy.

I'm surprised the Torx screwdriver that they supplied didn't work. But I've used my smallest jewelers flat head to tighten the screws in mine.

I haven’t had to subscribe to the course to get it to work on the H4.  Subscribing is recommended to show you when a course has been updated.   Being on the watch should mean turn it on and go.

It has sometimes been my experience that subscription fixed course access errors, although not in a while - subscription seems to trigger the correct synch of courses onto the watch in some scenarios

According to Gavin at SS, the firmware update was to fix a few bugs. He did not elaborate on what they were, but it was nothing earth shattering.

They usually do but didn't for this one, which is strange.

OH, and make sure you're subscribed to the course. Just being on the watch doesn't mean you can just turn it on and go.

Another benefit of going into 'courses' on the app is you may find that there's an update to the course.

So something different happened yesterday, Playing 18 yesterday, everything was working fine til the turn. I ran into the pro shop for a couple of minutes - the gps lost signal inside which it normally does, however, when I got out I had to restart the watch. Once I did, it automatically picked up the hole I was playing next, but now I've got two uncombined rounds.

In the past when I lost signal and the watch reacquired it, I could just keep on playing and the watch recorded it as one round.

Anyone else have this happen?

It's because you had to restart the watch, that basically finished the front nine.

I have had my H4 reboot midround and I just contacted support to combine the rounds.  Done within 24 hours.

Roger that - my point was in the past it automatically picked up the 10th hole after gps acquisition without having to restart the watch.

One of the things things that are important to me is the ability to track distance progress with my long clubs. While there is some element to it in the club data which you can cut by the different filters;, i.e. last round, last 5, 15, etc, you can't add notes or export the data. So I built a database in excel for my Driver, 3 Wood and 5 Wood. I log the data after each round based on SS club data for last round. For some reason, the column borders didn't come through so I separated the different columns by dashes below. Note, I'm experimenting with a couple of different shafts for my driver - so I'm looking forward to the analytics that show which of the two is longest - the shafts are the same model in different flexes. I also added in wind since I don't want to skew the data with those 25 mph downwind breezes. I'll also have to figure out how to capture LM swing speed data on days I go to the range before I play a round.  Anyway a work in progress.

On the V3 is there a way to back out of the pin collect screen for number of putts? If I walk across the green from the cart path it stays on the putt screen if I need to hit a chip.

If you use the arrow on the bottom right of the screen, it will go to the next "page" and there should be an X there. Press that to get back to the yardage screen. You have to be well off the green for the X to be there.

However, even if you're on the pin collect or green screen and use a club from off the green for a chip, it will still register that shot for what it is and not a putt.

Both in the dashboard and the app in the 'Clubs" section. I made a mistake earlier this year by not changing the driver from my 410 to the SIM 2. I noticed that the other day so I changed the Driver sensor to the new one in the Clubs section - so now I show a combined data under the black outlined box - which is 410 and SIM 2, And the new yellow outlined box which is the SIM 2. So 2 driver distances in the club performance.

To better understand improvement of the driver, I'm comparing 2021 vs. 2022 . Hope all of this makes sense.

I think you just answered your own question,  it is done to help distinguish clubs and be able to compare them.

Same here. As a former ARRCOS user I'm a very satisfied V3 user. While the graphics are not as 'whizbang' as ARRCOS, the responsiveness of SS customer service and the minimal editing sealed the deal for me. @badgergolf, as @cnosilmentioned, it also depends on your priorities - which we don't know. Give us more info and we can provide you better input.

Yup I did read it  - but don't quite understand how you're going to rate or evaluate the 2 side by side. I will admit that ARRCOS has done a great job marketing through Cobra and Ping but there's a lot more to it than that. Hopefully as you do your comparison you'll use empirical data vs. just anecdotal 'stuff'. Looking forward to your write-up.

On the V3 is there a way to back out of the pin collect screen for number of putts? If I walk across the green from the cart path it stays on the putt screen if I need to hit a chip.

Rather than walk across the green, I walk around the green which ensures the screen continues to show the yardage.

People who've been on this forum know I'm not a confrontational nor argumentative guy, buuuut.... That new member seems to keep posting the SAME thing within a bunch of different threads, so at this point I'm looking at his post as merely clickbait and am ignoring all his others.

Additionally and IMHO my sense of it is he's made up his mind anyway.

I wasn’t getting much interaction so posted in relevant threads so the users of the devices  Shotscope & Arccos threads could hopefully give their experiences. If I’d made my mind up I wouldn’t be asking for people experiences but if you want to ignore all my posts that’s fine.

I've got some good data the last couple months about my game using the H4.  I still forget to tag clubs but not as frequently as before.  Mostly putting and i forget to tag the pin location so my green accuracy is off in the stats.

One thing i can say from the data is i consistently "miss" 20% of my tee to green shots.  A miss is either direction or distance error...or both!  😀. I dont count a shot as a miss if i hit it the way i want but didnt read yardage or wind impact correctly.  The reason for this criteria is i am trying to track mishits and improve my contact consistency.  Over 80% of my misses are directional rather than distance.  So i seem to be  hitting it solid most times but could be off on swing path or face angle.

I have noticed that my scoring is better if the misses arent as severe that day or if i miss in the 'better' spot.  That is probably obvious but i can have the same FIR or GIR % from round to round but score much differently.

The only pattern with a directional miss for the round is how my back feels that day.  A stiff back means more pull hooks with my driver but favors a right side miss with my irons.  Im not sure whats up with that but that is what the data shows so far.

I know i need to concentrate better while playing.  My 9 hole rounds show better contact than 18 hole rounds.  I dont concentrate well for the full 18.  And it could be lapses in the middle 6 holes not just the end of the round so i know its not fatigue.

Anyway its fun to me to track this stuff and try to improve in those areas.  The H4 data made me look at this more closely than without it.

I don't think this is the solution. The boundaries of the green based on satellite photos don't always align perfectly with where the green actually it. I find way more value in pacing off the distance from the flag to edge of green and then to the ball to get a better idea of the carry vs roll numbers for the chip. Walking around the green would also be slower.
