Refinished and refurbished balls have been shown (repeatedly, consistently) to perform worse than their fresh-from-the-box brethren and it wouldn't take more than about 2 minutes of googling and/or searching the forums for that evidence. That being said, if you don't want to pay $50/doz, there are plenty of options for new golf balls that are likely to be (at least) comparable to (if not better than) what Gabe found in his video. Might take a look at the Maxfli lineup, for instance?

No. I think spending $15 for a dozen Pro V's is a lot better deal than $50 for brand new balls that might not be centered. I never use refurbished balls... only found balls sold as is. I lose too many balls in a season to justify paying $50 for new balls.

... Here its the thing. You don't know if any of the lost balls are lost refurbished balls. That said it is of course your money and you can spend it anyway you like.

Refurbished balls have 'refurbished' printed on them. At least Pro V's do. I buy the highest quality offered. They are just cleaned and sorted by condition.

Not everyone needs or plays "tour level" balls. How about a test of all the surlyn cover balls that the masses actually use?
