RollingGreens
Hello All! Just wanted to give you guys some details on the Greywalls course at Marquette Golf Club. It is located in the Upper Peninsula which is a beautiful site seeing location. I would say it is more known for its pure nature and views along Lake Huron and Superior. So For starters we are staying in Ontonagon which is about a 2 hour drive from the course. It has a special place in the heart of my FIL when he was younger and vacationed. A little bit of a rough drive prior to playing the #2 rated course in Michigan and a top 100 rated golf course. Here is a nice little breakdown of the course, the tee boxes, and the rating/slopes. The course itself is located somewhat off the beating path. When you drive up to the club the first thing you see is the Heritage course which is the other course located on the property of Marquette golf club, as you pull up farther you are greeted by the clubhouse. We had lunch in the clubhouse prior to the round and the food and staff were both fantastic. We were in a small time crunch and the staff did a great job of getting our food out quickly so we didn't have to rush for our round. Side note- The Club sandwich is enough for 2 people as my wife's uncle came to find out! The clubhouse itself is a bit older but looks to have been spruced up over the course of time. A few TVs, a bar, and tables are dispersed throughout. The tables have really nice cushioned swivel chairs which help in giving the clubhouse the feel of the pre or post round golf atmosphere. Parking can become slim the clubhouse parking is the fathers from the Greywalls course, if you are lucky you may be able to find a spot near the pro shop which is located all the way to the back L of the facility, but if playing Greywalls park all the way in the back near the maintenance garages. The pro shop is small but has everything you may need pre round. The staff at Greywalls was nice but at times was difficult to find pre round, I dropped off my bag with a young gentleman, it was difficult to tell if he knew what he was doing or was in the "Fake it till you make it". Now on to the course itself, It seems that every group heading to play Greywalls has a tour guide to get out to the first tee box. I am not exaggerating when I say that it is a good 10 minute drive through the golf course to get to the first tee and with the numerous holes you go by it would be difficult to attain without working their for at least a month consistently. It seems that you go all the way from 18 to the back of the property where the course starts. You are greeted by the started and the grill/coolers for the halfway house. It's an intimidating view down the first tee with a straight drop and nothing but undulation. The starter says get used to the undulation because you won't see a flat spot on the course all day. The greens are bent grass and play very quick. The sand traps and bunkers are thick a full of heavy soft sand which make it quite difficult to get out with a solid shot on your first try. The course has a lot of blind shots on the front which can make for a frustrating start to the round especially for a course that you haven't played before. You are almost better playing it with your eyes vs a gps device which I had originally tried using ARCCOS. The course flows pretty well, it can get challenging navigating from hole to hole if you aren't paying complete attention because at time there is a lot of 2 way traffic from other golfers and workers. Some of the views of the rock, the undulation, and the course from an elevation looking at Lake Huron are fantastic. Overall the course is a phenomenal track to play. A once in the lifetime bucket list sort of course. It really isn't the type of course you can show up to and expect to play great on. You will have your good shots, shots you thought hit well but don't end up with a good result, and those that are just not good lol I will be playing again Friday morning which should allow for some better pictures in comparison to yesterday which provided for a "Gray Day" I have numerous pictures to upload which I will do over the next few days! I hope everyone enjoys the writeup Pricing is $145/round silver & black, MGoBlue100, ncwoz and 5 others 8 Quote Stealth 2 Plus 9deg Kai' li Red Stealth 2 13deg Aldilla Rogue Silver Stealth 2 15deg Aldilla Rogue Silver JPX 921 Hot Metal 4-PW Nippon Modus 120s SM8 54 and 58deg Dynamic Gold Wedge Flex Scotty Cameron Newport 2 Titleist ProV1 Hoofer Stand Bag Stewart Q Follow Electric Caddie 300 PRO Rangefinder Official Nippon Regio B+ Driver Shaft Review Official Stewart Q Follow Review
Shankster
Enjoy that course. I donated quite a few golf balls to the cliffs, rocks, canyons, weeds… everything except the fairway. It is a beautiful course, if you have time you should check out the two by Escanaba, Sweet Grass and Sage Run I think it is called. They host a Semetra Tour event on Sweet Grass, or at least used to. It was a fun course. MGoBlue100, RollingGreens, MaxEntropy and 1 other

MGoBlue100
I played Greywalls once a few years ago. Didn't really realize how cool it was until it was over... Need to get back up there, but it's quite a hike even when you're in mid or Northern Michigan. RollingGreens and Shankster 2 Quote "Where'd it go?" "Right in the Lumberyard..." Redhawk
In shorter terms. it's #1 with me in regards to the WOW Factor. Go to the Island casino website and do the package deal. Best prices in Michigan. You can play Timberstone, Greywalls and Sweetgrass for a very reasonable price. The casino treats you very nice also!! Check it out!!! There a few like that I’ve played. When I played Greywalls I was still recovering from shoulder surgery, played like garbage. Which in turn made me dislike the course. It does have some amazing views, and pretty fun greens. I’d like to get back up there to play it now that I can hit the ball further than 200 yards. The first day it was cold and rainy, I didn’t play great either. Thought it was a nice course but didn’t enjoy it because it was difficult to figure out where to play shots. The second time we were given a yardage book that includes tips for how to play a whole. Made a huge difference in how I played and scored. Play18
I played Greywalls and the Heritage (Langford 9 holes) a few weeks ago and look forward to play again next year. The first seven holes are an adventure. You can play golf until 1030PM EST! There is a hidden BACK tee on top of the Greywalls par 3, 6th hole. The views are stunning. All the local restaurants shutdown at 9PM due to the pandemic, but hopefully Marquette opens it up next year.
