What are your wedge degrees and why?

Recommended Posts

45-50-52-56

45 & 50 - P790

52 & 56 - Cleveland RTX4

Even though it is only a 2 degree difference, the distance gap is fine due to the 50 being a P790.

Right now I can go

47-53-58-SW, or

if I 'm getting it out of sand with a regular wedge,  I can go

47-52-56-60.

Anyway, on the recommendation of a fellow MGS contributor whose user name I should have remembered but didn't,

I saw some very interesting Cobra Snake Bite wedges on the TGW site.

They have a 56º with only 7º bounce, hard to find and attractive to me.

They don't offer customization on that particular model however.

By the time I took it to our pro shop, had it reshafted, regripped, and bent to a flatter lie,

I would have paid for it twice.

And I'm a little gun shy from recent expenditures that went south.

So I guess that I'm good for now.

45* PW from my iron set (TE Exotics C721), 50* Sub 70 raw 286 wedge and 54* + 58* Cleveland CBX 2 wedges (58* is full-face model with a moderately high toe). Sometimes I substitute Maltby TSW DRM Forged or Vokey SM8 54* & 58* wedges for the Cleveland wedges. I generally use the 58* wedge(s) from the sand, unless I have a longer greenside bunker shot in which case I use the 54* or even the 50* on long bunker shots. The 50* is used a lot for chipping and partial-swing approach shots of up to 95-100 yards, although I will use the 54* Cleveland CBX2 for "finesse" shots of up to 75 yards because it is super-easy to hit and it's very accurate.
