Chip Strokes
my wife and i are taking an 8 day RV trip through the northeast in september. we don't have any concrete plans yet, but the rough idea is to leave from CT, head up to Vermont, further northeast to Portland, Maine, then stop in NH on our way back down before either spending two days in cape cod or martha's vineyard and heading home. i figure i can squeeze 2 rounds of golf into this trip. any more and i'd be a real jerk since me golfing means leaving her with two dogs, our (will be at that time) 1 year old, and a 39 foot bus that she won't drive. recommend some good ones to me and i'll see what fits into our travel plans! ejgaudette, GolfSpy_SHARK, Nolan220 and 2 others 5 Quote SIM2 8º | KuroKage XD 70TX SIM 3W 14º | Fujikura Atmos Black Tour Spec 9TX SIM2 5W 18º | Fujikura Ventus Black 10X U500 2i | Fujikura Ventus HB Black 10TX T100 4-PW | Dynamic Gold X7 SM6 52* SM8 56* SM8 60* | Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100 DW | BGT Stability Tour

Acadia is beautiful! 100% worth the time to squeeze it in there. As for courses, if you go to one down the cape Pinehills is very nice. But yeah Owl's Nest is special with its views on top of being a good challenging course. Tom the Golf Nut
If you plan on taking I95 back toward home I would also recommend Lake of Isles at the Foxwood Casino. Plenty for the wife to do there while you play on a great course. (and they really take care of the course, they have the money. Probably some of mine. They have two courses one is private (South Course) and the other public (North) but they are very similar. They have a course fly over if you go on their website. One of the best courses in the area. I used to live over that way. They also have the Mashantucket Pequot Museum on site. You can leave the motor home there and take a shuttle over to the golf course. Then meet up later catch a good buffet and still be home in two hours from there. DoubleAce
Happy to give some ideas here. The Ranch and Crumpin Fox are both great courses, but might be west of your travel plans. if you get to Martha's Vineyard, Farm Neck is a wonderful course. Both Pinehill courses in Plymouth MA are also great. In Devens, MA is Red tail, it sounds like it may be undergoing some renovations but its a great course. The private one is even better, but you have to be with a member. I got on about 6 months after they opened and they were still recruiting members with a limit of 300. Said my company was transferring me to the area and I wanted to play the course once before I committed to anything. They let me play a round with the pro. After the round I told him i was interested and would get back to them once i got moved into to the area. Then I drove 15 minutes to my house. It was true though, i did get transfered to the area and I was interested until I heard the dues and initiation fees. The public course is still top notch. I got to play that a few times before I transfered from CT to TN. DzrtRatGolfer
On 7/27/2021 at 11:01 AM, Chip Strokes said: "... stop in NH on our way back down..." "recommend some good ones to me and i'll see what fits into our travel plans!" For what it's worth... Here's my two cents worth... In central NH... Specifically in Loudon... North of Concord, South of Lake Winnipesaukee, and basically a straight shot 1 hour West of Portsmouth. Located about 1 mile from NH Motor Speedway (Annual NASCAR racetrack) is Loudon Country Club. It's rated as #16 (of 600) Best Courses in New England. It's a par 72, 18 hole course. A bit hilly but nothing major. It is a challenging course but not to the point of impossible to play for an average golfer. I believe it's a bit over 6000 yds total. Lots of variation on the course (some uphill, some downhill, some with water hazards to navigate over, etc...) but all fairways very well defined (not a wide open, flat, links type course) with very well maintained, fast greens. Their pricing is VERY reasonable (probably cheapest in central NH!) especially on weekdays! It's family owned & operated with owners on site daily (a man & his son) who are down to earth, very friendly, helpful folks who are attentive to customer needs/concerns! Both are fantastic golfers as well! At Loudon Country Club one is NOT treated in a stand-offish, cold manner which is often the case at courses owned by a large corporation operating numerous courses. The parking lot is huge (plenty of room for a large RV). Finally, the clubhouse has an outdoor deck w/tables to sit & eat or have drinks. The food is excellent, always cooked to order, everything made in house from owner's recipes, large serving sizes, & is reasonably priced! Give it a try on your way through NH... I don't think you'll be disappointed! Chip Strokes
