WGC FedEx St. Jude Invitational -2021

Memphis, TN.  I've been their a couple of times as stops in route to other destinations.  All I recall is it being steamy hot walking to/from airplanes on the open tarmac... back when we wore suits and ties . This weeks weather looks pretty tame. Anyone attending?  @Tom the Golf Nut @sirchunksalot? 

Perhaps like no other event, the St. Jude has done so much for so many children and families dealing with various illnesses.  Since 1962 this non-profit organization, founded by Danny Thomas, has led efforts in research to treat cancer.  The players themselves do a lot of visiting and helping lift the spirits of the kids... very cool.

A number of the field will be making their way back from Tokyo and might be a wee bit low on fuel.  JT didn't have his best stuff this past week and I'm not thinking he'll get the repeat done. Maybe a back of the field winner - Kisner, Na, or Niemann?  Hopeful as always that my FTx crew is there on Sunday... who ya got?

I’m certainly hoping Zalatoris can carve out a win this week or next for my Fantasy team. If not him maybe a new winner on the year like Victor Perez or Lee Westwood.

I'm not attending. It's about 8 hours away for me. I have played TPC Southwind about 2 years ago. Unfortunately I wasn't as impressed as I thought I would be. It was good but not great.

I've heard that more than a few times from folks playing the various TPC courses around the states.  I got to play TPC Snoqualmie Ridge, after having done volunteer work at a handful of CT Boeing Classic events, and really liked playing it.  It's famed canyon hole, where patrons in the grandstands urge players to go for the green, cheering when they pull driver and booing if not, is quite cool to watch and intimidating to play.  I played for the trap in the center and ended about 25 yards in front and to the left of it... Whewwww .  I shot a 89 from the white tees with my trusty old set of PE2's and a GBB driver .  Having walked the course many times following players, I felt like I knew its layout and trouble spots pretty well.  Unfortunately both colleagues I knew from work who built there and joined the club have since moved elsewhere.

Great field this week, I think Brooks or DJ might get it done. Should be a good event.

Very hard to pick a favorite at this tournament.  However, I going with

1.  Spieth
2.  Wolfe
3.  Berger

I'd be happier with a Speith, Harman, Reed... or any combination of those .  Honestly, I've been rooting for Harman to get a win.  He's the Rodney Dangerfield of the tour and has had a career year - it's time to hoist some hardware.

As for SJI seems like course is playing decently tough so far which is nice to see!

TGC decided to provide me with the Barracuda Championship... when TGC serves you lemons, you make lemonade.  That Old Greenwood Course looks beautiful though, like so much of the west, a little smoky.
