Berg Ryman
So, I have a lot of special markers kept in an old watch box for use on special occasions. For the longest time I used an arcade token with Pac-Man on it from my old local Time Out arcade but lost that in a bag transfer. I also shared @bens197's proclivity for Canadian currency while I was in high school, as well as certain state quarters, namely Montana. I even have a marker from Pine Valley sent along by @jlukes for winning his guessing contest as to his performance at PV. But now, I just use the magnetic marker emblazed with the logo of the NY Rangers on my divot tool. Why the Rangers? I don't really have a favorite hockey team, but their divot tool was the cheapest on sale at Burlington Coat Factory for 2.99... so Rangers it is. TigerInTheWoods
I bought a set of these "corona virus" markers in different colors at the start of the pandemic last year. Our golf season was delayed by a month and this pandemic has really changed a lot of things. Gave them to my golf buddies to always remember this year (now two?) and to appreciate the time we have on the golf course and never take it for granted. I also sometimes use a silver dollar of my birth year. BIG STU
I use different ones--- My favorite one has a story-- It is a $20 chip from a Tattoo parlor a friend owns. A few years back I beat him out of $20 in a match and he paid me off with that chip. When I play golf with him I always use it to remind him I took $20 off of him. I have a couple from our old golf shop with our logo on them put up. Have an assorted lot of ones from my former course that closed down now almost 2 years ago. The last day they were open the gen manager gave me a bunch of them in a box from the stock room. Mostly I use poker chips. I have quite a few of them. A few years back in a Junked car I found a nice case with Tequila Patron poker chips cards and dice. Usually for me it is just whatever I pull out of the bag that week. mGolf, MattF and Kenny B 3 Quote Driver ---- Callaway Big Bertha Alpha Speeder 565 R flex- 5W TM V-Steel Fubuki 60r--- 7W TM V-Steel UST Pro Force Gold 65R----- 9 W TM V Steel TM MAS stiff---- Irons 2015 TM TP CB Steel Fiber 95 R--- GW Callaway Mack Daddy 2 52* shaft unknown junk pile refugee. If I am real close or i need to move the mark then i use a small plastic disc that has a peg on one side to give a real flat surface if their putt happens to roll over it. HA! BostonSal
Marking my ball means two different things to me. It means using an old, real silver dime with no copper center to mark the ball on the greens. You have to clean off the tarnish to make them bright enough to easily see. The old dime is the closest thing that I have to a superstition. I'd just call it a very old habit. Then there's the Sharpie thing to mark the ball for identification. I have a custom ball number and my name imprinted so I don't have to do that. It's only an extra three bucks per dozen to get that. Even if the tee ball is out there far enough to have me think about going for it in two, not being able to see the water in front and trying to hold the green from that far back has me laying up to the right more often than going for it. ballplayer002003 1 Quote Modern Bag: G410 LST 10.5*, Hzrdus Smoke RDX 6.5 Flex; 915F 3w, Diamana S+ 70 S flex; Snake Eyes 18* 2h, 23* 4h & 27* 5h; JPX 900 Forged 6 - PW, PX LZ 6.0; Edison 2.0 49*, 53*, 57* KBS Tour 120 S; Heppler Fetch; Ball - MTB-X; Bag - Jones MyGolfSpy Edition! I do the same thing you do, I play a nice 200 yard shot and trust it. 16 is tough too, because anything just a bit off is in the water or if you are long you are pitching back down the hill with the water in clear view. IndyArcher
I have two. One is a gold dollar coin my dad gave me some years ago. Don't even remember why. I think it was change from some fishing related purchase. Shortly afterward he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and passed about 90 days later. The second is a Belize penny. We operated a children's home down there for about 17 years and recently turned it over to friends of ours who live/serve down there. The ball marker is a simple way of reminding myself to pray for the ministry and the kids, many of whom we still know. Edited March 12, 2022 by IndyArcher mGolf and MattF 2 Quote Link to comment
