fixyurdivot
I ordered the Align midsize on my new irons and really like the feel. I should have swapped to midsize long ago. Now I grab my driver and fairway woods and they feel odd . I'm think my first re-grip project will be changing them out and picking the Align seems to make most sense... but is that necessarily the best option on woods? Do most of you have the same grips through the bag? txgolfjunkie
Prior to the Cobra Connect Challenge, I had one particular grip for my driver, a different one for my 3W & 2H, a different one for my 4U and 5i-PW, and different grips for my wedges. Some clubs required a cord of some sort since I would be swinging at full tilt, others needed more comfort. If you like the align feature but want it on a different grip, I bought some grip reminders from golf works and applied them to every grip. It was quick and easy to apply and did the trick. https://www.golfworks.com/the-golfworks-grip-rib-pack/p/gw0017/ Cobra Connect 5 Competitor - Team Chad King Radspeed 10.5* w/ Hzrdus RDX Blue 60 6.5 tipped 1/2" - Peacoat/Red King Radspeed Big Tour 3 Wood w/ Hzrdus RDX Blue 70 6.5 Tipped 1/2" King Radspeed Tour 5 Wood w/ Motore X F1 70 X Flex King Utility 4 21* w/ Tensei Pro White 100 X Flex King Tour MIM Copper Irons 5-G w/ AMT White X100 Onyx King MIM Black Wedges 55* & 60* w/ AMT White X100 Onyx Spider SR Pro V1x Left Dash Lefty
russtopherb
I have the Aligns on my irons, but UTX midsizes on my woods. I don't really feel or notice a major difference going between them, and the midsize on the woods help me keep a relaxed grip which ends up with a little more speed. My completely non-scientific reasoning is that I want my woods to get out there as far as I can max their distance off the tee, but my irons need to go a specific distance so I tend to be OK without as loose of a grip on them. Then again, the way I've been hitting driver like poopy lately, who knows? The MCC Plus 4 were my original pick with the new irons but they were not available in a color I wanted at the time of order, so I went with the Align midsize. I never gave any thought to the grip weight and influence on swing weight switching to midsize - not to mention the added weight of the Aligns ridge feature. At 62g these are contributing to the lower SW by ~2 points. I see the Plus 4's are 66g, which would have lowered it my another point. I'm now paying more attention to grip choices . I just received my new/used SW scale and remeasured the ZX5's and my G410P (D6.5), G400 3w(C9.6) & 5w (C9.8). If I opt for the Aligns on these, I'm going to lighten SW about 2 points. They all currently have GP TV 360 standard and if I switch to their midsize only about 1 SW reduction. I suppose one can change out the screw-in weights to offset, but now the whole club just gets heavier... hmmm You know, it would be a lot easier if I just buy into the "swing weight, the greatest placebo in golf" position (I read that comment somewhere) .
