San Diego Spies; need advice

Greetings!  I'll be in San Diego the weekend of Sept 25-26 on business, and want to get out and play!  The obvious choice for a Midwest/East Coast guy is Torrey Pines, but that looks like a long shot based on their website and (not very) available tee times.  So...  Where else should I play?  I played Steele Canyon at an association national meeting a long time ago (more than 15 years for sure) but don't really know what else is good and at least somewhat accessible.  All opinions encouraged, especially those that have a backdoor way to get me on Torrey South or North!

Thanks in advance!

Well, made myself a tee time for Torrey Pines North for late Sunday morning.  Probably miss some Ryder Cup singles, but me yelling at the TV can't help them anyway.  Any San Diego spies want to find a sports bar & watch Ryder Cup Saturday & college football, let me know; I'll come find you.

Hope you enjoyed Torrey North one of my favorites, I always recommend Coronado just because it is so pretty on the bay and it’s affordable.  A little farther North about an hour journey at Pechanga is great. Rancho Bernardo Inn is nice with great food. La Costa & Aviara are nice in Carlsbad but not cheap. Maderas  is the same - very nice but expensive. Lots of great private courses.

The sound of a long drive is so much cooler when your playing partner says “Wow”
