So, all of this talk makes me want to move to Scotland, have a cottage in Ireland, and spending some time in Spain.

The alternative is moving to Jupiter where the golf courses are overrun (just a guess) every day, vacationing in NYC, where the courses are overrun (just a guess) every day… and spending some time in Southern California, where the courses are overrun (again, just a guess…)

Agree with you. Just stand still...

However, the media playing it up like it was some sorta "diss" really feels like them grasping at straws. We all know Bryson isn't the best putter and it was on display multiple times during the playoff.

So I give you this assignment.  The next tournament, watch closely the opponent when someone is putting on the green  You will notice well more than 50% of the time, the non putter starts moving during the stroke.  I can't believe it's never been mentioned, I mean I don't do that and I'm a hack playing with hacks and good players.

I've seen this for years, and have thought this is very odd that it's such a regular occurrence.  It's odd that this doesn't bother anyone, but someone over 60 yards away behind your back bothers you.

Have you watched the Golf Channel show called Golf Films, episode 2 was about St. Andrews, basically a two hour documentary on it.   After watching it, my life goal immediately became being able to move there for a year and play golf and just enjoy the town and people.   I mean if I could somehow manage that, I totally would

I’m over all of the anti-Bryson sentiment everywhere on social media. A fellow Pro offered people beer if they would heckle BD. THAT’S who should be called-out! But, no. BD is a little eccentric, different, talks a lot, wears his emotions on his sleeve, and is basically just different so folks jump on him. Back when I was a teacher and coach, BD was the kind of kid everyone teased because they were different. It’s actually called bullying… I will never cheer for Brooks for doing what he did. Complete Bush League, yet he’s applauded. Unreal. I’d hate for the USA to lose the Cup, but it wouldn’t bother me if Koepka went “oh-fer” during the matches.

As everyone jumps-on a guy, just remember a fellow Pro called for everyone to try and affect an ability of another to make a living. No different than school kids getting a group to text, call, yell stuff etc to another kid in a school. So sick of it.

Rant done.

I think Bryson’s biggest mistakes are in front of the mic. I’ve got a nephew who never quite learned street smarts as a kid and became an easy target for getting teased and bullied in school. The more he tried to confront it, the worst the situation grew.

Sometimes I think Bryson suffers the same thing. However it started, he has played a role in shaping his current public persona, and the best thing he can do for himself is get his people together with Koepka’s people and fix it. They aren’t doing each other any favors in the long run.

And when the dust has settled, Bryson needs stop baiting people on camera or while playing a video game on Twitch. He’s just not equipped to play that kind of game, much less win at it.

Did any of them getting chatty with you or your digital scorer?  The Champions Tour guys frequently did, but then I think they are, as a whole, wound way less tight while in the throes of competition. Thanks for sharing your experience with us.

No they werent talking much with us. Hovland and Casey and their caddies were cutting it up though during their round it was really cool to see. Look out for them if they're paired for the Ryder Cup.

Just going to weigh in on the convo. When I walked with Phil the number of people just saying dumb things like "lets see your calves" and "did you drink your coffee" was so annoying. Like they werent negative towards him but it was just enough to make the round less enjoyable. All those intoxicated folks out there trying to get there 5 seconds of fame for yelling something and getting a reaction. I like the quotes that came out from Cantlay today, he said it best when he mentioned how the Masters is operated and how the Masters is the most enjoyable tournament for players and fans alike.

Yep, the things people will say to try and impress their buds or girlfriend or get there voice on TV so they can go listen to it on DVR is just confounding.     Yep, Cantlay gave a pretty thorough and well thought out response tothe whole thing, I think.

I was reading Cantlay’s comments on the matter. He’s right in comparing players’ relationship to sports fans in baseball to that of golf. I’ve never been to a golf tournament, but I have been to a tennis pro exhibition, and the intimacy between player and fan is palpable. I can only imagine that magnified on the green.

For what it’s worth, fans do have the power to shut down bad behavior. Years ago, during tennis’s US Open, I watched Czech player Ivan Lendl playing his quarter or semi-final match on television. At that time he had a reputation for behaving divisively on the court. He wasn’t as bad as John McEnroe, but he did question line decisions constantly.

Finally, during one point, he hit a ball and the line judge called it out. He stopped, stared and started to question the call again. The crowd became unsettled and someone in the stands belted out, “Go home, Lendl!” A beat later, a sole woman’s voice countered, “No! Stay, I-van!” And the stadium roared with approval. The match went on fine afterward.

Maybe golf fans on the course can take a page from that. After all, they paid quite a bit of money to be there, and I’m sure like anyone else, hecklers don’t like it when the crowd turns against them without the protection of a twitter handle.

Agreed. The proximity fans have to golfers is unmatched in sports.  I mean there are times when fans are almost as close to a golfer as an umpire is to a batter.    All we need is for someone next to one of those idiots to point at him after he says something and have the marshall or walking  police take him out on the spot and ban them from any future events.    It would take a while.  But eventually it would lessen.
