I'm sure many of you saw that this past week, a backup putter Scotty Cameron made for Tiger Woods sold at auction--for nearly $400k. It is difficult to imagine, then, what Tiger's actual Scotty would be worth.

Meanwhile, the PING golden putter vault is also legendary, with 3,000 gold putters representing every tour win with a PING putter.

So here's the question: if the golf gods granted you an epic wish, would you rather have Tiger's actual gamer, the one he used for 14 of his major wins? Or would you rather become the owner of the entire PING golden putter vault?

The Eldrick wand has a lot of pull but it’s  the golden putter vault for me, hands down. It’s the Fort Knox of golf!  Not to mention all of the legendary triumphs that have claimed a spot (including Tiger).

Why 14?  I could name a few and could probably eventually get to 14.    The biggest problem would be where to put the ping putters.

IMO the only benefit of Tiger's putter is that he actually played that  putter.  The putters in the vault are just replicas.

man you’re all going about this the wrong way. i’d take the ping vault

3000 gold putters at ~350g per putter is 1,050,000g of gold

thats 37,037 oz of gold

at today’s price of $1,819/ounce…

…that’s $67,370,303

@cnosil no need to worry about storage once you melt them down and cash in.

If any of you ever get the opportunity (PING fan or not) you should really make a point to visit HQ.  The only thing that's changed since 2005 is the size of the room itself; growing nearly 3x its size since that time.

It's fascinating to see in person and an easy vote for me...the vault...

That's assuming all of them are pure gold and not gold plated, which most of the clubs in the vault are. Give me the vault though, an interesting collection of clubs instead of just one.

I’ll take tigers Scotty. It’s the aura of the item itself. The ping putters while nothing but gold just don’t do it for me. Cool to see all the gold but replicas don’t do much for me. The vault may continue to get filled up in the future but I’m not entirely sure tiger will ever play competitively again…

Tiger's Scotty for me. It's the genuine article and that makes a huge difference. The PING Vault is cool and all, but if I had the money I could build my own version of the vault. You can't just "build" Tiger's putter - that's priceless.

Would your rather visit the national parks or just have someone sell you the commemorative coins? I think we all know the answer. I would rather have Tiger's Scotty. Tiger's Scotty is an irreplaceable piece of sporting history. That putter alone would have a commanding presence for anyone who is in the same room or even same building as it. If a golf museum was built and both the Ping vault and Tiger's Scotty were displayed, which would get most prime location? I think we know the answer to that too. Both are cool but only one putter out of them all would make people really want to come to the museum.

As someone else said up there, the only solid gold putters are the replicas of major winning Ping putters.  Even so, that's a bunch of them, I read that it was 57 putters as of 2016.  If you ever get a chance to visit, the Ping facility is a pretty amazing tour.  I'd take the vault!

First masters would have been 1995 as an amateur.  In that timeframe he was using a Ping Anser.  His first Cameron was 96.   The putter you are referring to was used for a couple of wins in 96.  In 97 he was using a TeI3.

This is a no brainer, the PING Golden Putter Vault all day long.  It was a back up for Tiger, not the gamer.  That’s like saying you want the losing teams super bowl champions memorabilia.  It just not the same!!!

I play a Titleist TS3 9 degree driver, Ping G410 14.5 degree 3 wood, Titleist 818 H1 19 degree hybrid, Titleist 718 CB 4-9 irons, Vokey 46, 52, 56 and 60 degree wedges, with an Odyssey Black Series 1 putter.

Anyone who has had the privilege of getting a tour of that PING Vault would know that the history there, not to mention, all that gold....is breathtaking. Karsten Solheim as we all know was the originator and genius of the Anser Putter which has been copied by every company and putter maker in the world.  Not to mention perimeter weighting, etc.  The list goes on.  So my vote is obvious.  The PING Vault.
