This is a no brainer, the PING Golden Putter Vault all day long.  It was a back up for Tiger, not the gamer.  That’s like saying you want the losing teams super bowl champions memorabilia.  It just not the same!!!

The auction that took place was for a back up, but as laid out by the OP we are talking about Tiger's actual gamer for this discussion. I'd go with the PING Vault over a replica, but the real deal poses a more intriguing dilemma IMO.

That's assuming all of them are pure gold and not gold plated, which most of the clubs in the vault are. Give me the vault though, an interesting collection of clubs instead of just one.

As someone else said up there, the only solid gold putters are the replicas of major winning Ping putters.  Even so, that's a bunch of them, I read that it was 57 putters as of 2016.  If you ever get a chance to visit, the Ping facility is a pretty amazing tour.  I'd take the vault!

if just 57 of them are solid gold, my answer remains the same. the value on those alone is 1.3M.  add in the gold plating from the 2943 others and you’ve got a nice payday on your hands

tiger’s putter holds no value for me. i’m not a big enough golf fan to fawn over something like that.

mickey mantle’s bat? derek jeter’s glove? now that’s a tougher call

Tiger's Scotty for me. It's the genuine article and that makes a huge difference. The PING Vault is cool and all, but if I had the money I could build my own version of the vault. You can't just "build" Tiger's putter - that's priceless.

I obviously posted the poll a couple of days ago, but just now voted, because I kept arguing with myself. But for me, this is the best argument. Tiger's putter is an absolute first rank item of golf history. The PING vault is a collection of replicas.

(Given that I referenced the selling of Tiger's backup putter in the OP: I would absolutely take PING's collection of gold replica putters over a single replica of Tiger's putter than he didn't use.)

If I ever get the chance, I'm absolutely interested in visiting the PING vault. But if I get to own one or the other, I'm taking the genuine article: Tiger's putter.

After answering the poll, I realize now that I just want a tour of the vault. What am I going to do with an entire vault? As for Tiger’s putter—it’s only magical in Tiger’s hands, not mine.

I'm sure many of you saw that this past week, a backup putter Scotty Cameron made for Tiger Woods sold at auction--for nearly $400k. It is difficult to imagine, then, what Tiger's actual Scotty would be worth.

Meanwhile, the PING golden putter vault is also legendary, with 3,000 gold putters representing every tour win with a PING putter.

So here's the question: if the golf gods granted you an epic wish, would you rather have Tiger's actual gamer, the one he used for 14 of his major wins? Or would you rather become the owner of the entire PING golden putter vault?

The PING golden putter vault is cool but it's nothing compared to Tiger's historic putter in my opinion! I also believe Tiger's actual putter would fetch more than the PING vault would in a(n) Auction.

Cool non-putters as well.

First off only putters of the Major PING winners are solid gold...the rest are golf plated ( there are a couple of wedges in there too )....the winner gets one as well so there are the same number of putters that are in the vault floating around in players "Love Me Rooms"....since Tiger uses his putter you could take it out for your Sunday round and use it and not worry that you might put a ding in it...it probably has some on it all ready...you would not want to do that with the gold PINGS...I would let  Tiger keep his putter and when he gets too old to play he can put it in a room with other items of importance from his career like the wreckage of his recent car driving experiment and the nine iron Elin stuck through the SUV window...I would also let the PING Vault remain where it is as a testament to how important Karsten's vision had been to golf in general...I have been in the vault and it is something to behold...why take it and deprive some other lucky person of seeing the vast history it repersents...Hit Them Straight
