I'm playing Pinehurst during the weekend of the Ryder Cup (Sept 23-26).  Wondering if anyone has tips for whether to get Caddies, is pace of play pretty good, what is the cart person situation like?   Prices for drinks?

Here is the itinerary:

Sept 23rd:  #5, #9
Sept 24th: #4 ; #7
Sept 25th: #2; cradle
Sept 26th: #8 (maybe adding another here)
Sept 27th:  Tobacco Road

Thank you in advance

@den748 I made a trip to Pinehurst back in 2017 and it was a GREAT experience; you are in for a treat. We played #2, #4, #7, Tobacco Road and Dormie Club.

Here's my 2 cents.... I HIGHLY suggest a caddie on #2.  I grew up playing TPC Southwind so I was used to PGA Tour courses but had never played a major championship track.  #2 gave me a whole new respect for major championship greens.  Without a caddie I quite possibly would have had 54+ putts; they were that hard to read.  Glad we played #2, but was a downright brutal test (the massive hangover and 5th course in 3 days didn't help either!!)

We did not have caddies on the other courses and do not remember thinking we would have scored much better with one.

Tobacco Road is what I consider "goofy golf".  Lots of blind shots and tricks.  I remember it well, as I shot a personal best that day but am strangely not dying to go back for more.  All that said- it is worth playing to see if it fits your eye.

I know Dormie Club has gone private now but if you can find a connection to get you on, it is an absolute must.  Dormie was the hands down favorite course we played that week.

Good luck and have fun!

It's funny you say this as you're the third person I've talked to that shot a personal best on Tobacco Road.  All have said the same thing.

Appreciate the tips.  Planning on Caddie on #2 and also #4 as many have now told me that #4 is actually harder than #2.

I'll reply on this thread my thoughts on the trip.  I'm sure this is one of the most highly reviewed trips but another perspective can't hurt.

Nice lineup.  Number 4 and 7 in the same day is going to wear you out, especially having walked 4.   If possible, I'd change the 2nd course on that day to 5 and move 7 to that first day.  Just my opinon.  7 is a great course, but you're most likely going to be whipped after No. 4.   And I'd want something a bit less stressful and easier.

No. 8 is a great course as well, if you want to add another round,  Dormie Club is very close by if you can get on it.  Or Mid Pines would make a nice finish to the day.
