Reesedw 2,808
I'm intrigued, by the idea of using a ribbed grip. I saw a video about using a piece of string down the back of the grip taped in place and the grip installed over it giving a rib.. Has anyone done this?? do you like them? Thoughts??? TR1PTIK 3,554
I've used ribbed grips in the past. They were okay, but I didn't see any tremendous benefit personally. The primary issue with ribbed grips is you have to be much more exact with alignment. Not something I'd recommend if you're a stickler about that (like I am). Never tried the string method, but the alignment issue remains and is likely made worse trying to get the string in position. If you really wanted to experiment with it, I'd suggest using the air compressor method of installation - place the string under some masking tape and blow the grip on after. Allows you to easily remove the grip if you don't like the placement of the string. 1 Quote Driver: Mizuno ST190 9.5* Aldila RIP Alpha 60 S Fairway Wood: Mizuno ST190 15* Fujikura Atmos Blue 6S Hyrbrid: Mizuno CLK 17* Fujikura Speeder EVO HB Irons: Bridgestone J40 CB (3-PW) Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100 Wedges: Bridgestone Tour B XW-1 54* & 58* Nippon Modus 3 105 Putter: Cleveland Huntington Beach SOFT Premier 4 34" Ball: Snell MTB-X Bag: 2017 Titleist Players 5 Stand Bag
BostonSal 565
Because I don't wear a glove, I'm only comfortable with perforated, simulated soft leather, wrap style grips. My first brand new set had rubber grips, and, mostly because everybody else did, I did use a glove back then.

McGolf 520
Golfworks has a product that can be placed on the shaft making a more pronounced rib. Easy to use and makes a go rib. 2 Quote Driver - 44.5" 5.0 flex 10.5 deg ACCRA tour Z GP MCC4+ 1 deg closed Irons - 5-pw, GW stnd length 5.0 flex same grip 1 deg flat. Thanks I used the GP Align on a couple of clubs - I didn't really see the benefit after a season, especially considering the increased cost - or complexity if you're doing them yourself. However, I'm very fussy about the alignment mark on my grips when I install them - especially since I use a strong grip. That alignment mark to the V in my hand is one of the last things I check before I start my backswing. i 1 Quote Left Hand orientation SIM 2 D Max with Fujikura Air Speeder Shaft Cobra King F-9 5 wood 410 Hybrids 22*, 26* Cobra Speed Zone 6-GP/Recoil ESX 460 F3 Shafts SM7 54* Wedge Glide 3.0 60* Wedge O Works putter NX9-HD - 4 Wheel - too many shoes to list and so many to buy And BAG Boy Golf Balls: Snell MTB-X And Vice Pro Plus 2020 Official Tester Beginning Driver Speed - 78 2019 Official Tester 410 Driver 2018 Official Tester C300
DaveP043 5,610
I used to use Golf Pride Tour Wrap grips with the reminder rib. Its worth noting that you can get grips with the rib far cheaper than paying for the "Align" grips. For instance, the GP Tour Velvet ribbed grip is $5.99, the GP Tour Velvet Align grip is $9.99. I can't see how the Align grip is worth $4 more than the basic ribbed grip. 2 Quote Irons Titleist AP2 714, KBS Tour S, 3 flat Rogue SubZero, GD YS-Six X 52, 56, and 60 wedges B60 G5i putter Right handed Reston, Virginia
