PBH3
I just noticed during my round yesterday that the face insert on my Ping Sigma G Tyne putter is starting to pop out on one side (I've attached a photo). Right now it doesn't seem like a big deal and the center where the ball makes contact looks fine. Do you think this has any effect on performance? Is this something that I can fix myself by popping the insert off and re-gluing it? Or is there some magic that I need a professional to take care of it? If I am going to take out the face insert are there any after market inserts I should be looking at? I haven't found much online for after market inserts. Thanks! null
Yes, Contact ping. Inserts coming out, warping, or caving in can have a big impact on performance. PBH3, MGoBlue100 and Kansas King

jasperuga
Did you have to pay to have it repaired? I'm having the same issue, but Ping says it out of warranty because it's the 2017 model and wants $45 for repair and $15 shipping each way. If not, and you really like it, then pay up. Otherwise, try another putter. I have a Tommy Armour Impact #3 that is very similar to your Ping. Go to Dicks and try it out, not very expensive, $120. HDTVMAN
Take it to the dealer where you bought it, or a Ping authorized dealer. Ping does not work with consumers. You must go thru an authorized dealer who will call Ping, get a repair ticket, and send it in for repair. Ping should cover the issue. Quote Certified Club Fitter. Jcosta
Wow, for what Ping charges for putters, seems like a lifetime warranty on materials & workmanship should be the standard.

No, they emailed me a shipping label and I sent it directly to them at no charge. I was also given the option of going through an authorized dealer and have them ship it back. jasperuga
Thanks for the responses. I have a Ping Sigma 2 Tyne 4 which I game so I have a putter. I wanted to get this one repaired for a backup. I might try and bring it to my local Authorized PING Retailer and see what they tell me. At $75 for repairs, I might just keep it how it is. Booner
Figured I'd respond to this old thread, as I just had the same exact issue and easily fixed it at home in about 30 min. My insert face (Sigma Doon) was popping out in the exact same spot as originally posted. I used a mini flat head screwdriver and worked around the edges of the insert face to get it off completely. One it was off it was clear that it wasn't exactly flat anymore from prying it off. First I cleaned the thin film of hot glue off the back of the thin face plate that was removed. Next I put it back on the putter face, keeping face to the sky so it wouldn't fall off, and heated it with a hair dryer until it was hot to the touch. This made the thin face plate go back to its original form...perfectly flat. Lastly I put it back on with a very thin film of epoxy and good to go. No need to clamp plate down for epoxy either. It was so perfectly flat I just set putter down on back of face and set it on there and let it cure...the plate sits in its housing perfectly on its own. The only thing I lost along the way was the really thin black gasket that was between the face plate and putter body. It deformed when removing the face but didn't have any function besides cosmetics. Putter face looks just as clean without it...can't tell it's gone since it's so thin anyway. Pics are of putter after repair. Edited August 3, 2022 by Booner PBH3 and NCDuffer
HDTVMAN
Call Ping customer service directly. They will repair it at no charge. I did the same with my 2021 Fetch adjustable shaft, which was bad and they replaced the shaft with a solid black shaft at the length I wanted. Their customer service is great.
