GolfProSimulator - great deal in 2014, got it with end of year closeout pricing, couldn't set it up where my computer was at the time (basement low ceiling), was put away and forgotten for a while, then found and plugged into new computer but software was incompatible with new laptop with no online information at all.  Thinking that one day I will try it with my old (ancient) laptop to see if the software will run on Vista which is listed as compatible.  Website is no longer owned by maker and online retailer Intheholegolf.com has it on their site with spare parts but what is in the photo is out of stock and there is no other information than the vendor information, no reviews, no questions/answers.

On the plus side it is still new in it's original case!

EDIT: Microsoft Vista is no longer a supported operating system.   So this is likely destined to be a practice mat...

At the risk of raising the ire of someone who is superior to me, I will ask a question that might piss them off.  Yes, I have searched the database for a thread that covers this, but could not find one.  Please excuse my egregious error if there was one and I did not find it. What have you bought, golf related, that you really wanted, but after you bought it, you now consider it a waste of money?  As for myself it is a laser rangefinder.  Since I have started using a gps app on my phone, I cannot remember the last time I’ve used my laser rangefinder.

I use a Shotscope V3, the GPS function on my Grint app, and a range finder. I am also an engineer and firm believer in multiple sources of data to confirm. I do find the GPS app is limited in the sense that it does not know the pin location for each day so that is where the range finder comes into play. At a certain point, FMB pin locations can be the difference between a tap in birdie and a long 3 putt.

For me it's a laser rangefinder. I am not accurate enough to need that level of precision. My phone app that shows front middle and back of the green distances is good enough for my purposes, and easier to use.

I have both the laser and a watch GPS unit but rarely use the laser. My greens are small so the front, middle, back doesn't mean as much as a course with large greens.

My wife uses the laser; I use GPS.  Our greens are not huge, but fair-sized, mostly long and narrow.  If the pin is a "red" flag, I split the difference between Front and Middle; if the pin is a "blue" flag, I split the difference between Middle and Back.  Sometimes it's helpful on a par 3 to know the exact yardage, and my wife will always oblige.

I consider any tee that claims that it will give you more yardage to be a waste of money.

Buying any tee is a waste of money.  I can start out with 2 tees in my bag and when I finish a round, I'll have 5-6.  In a month I have to empty the pocket on the bag and take out a hundred or more.  People just leave them on the tee boxes.

Another waste of money is buying one of the clubs advertising easy to hit drivers or sand wedges that are sure to get you out of the trap with flashy names.

Play everything from the hickory era to modern equipment.

I'm still working through it, but IMO Arccos sensors. The number of missed shots during a round is diabolical, and I've tried all of the support strategies and suggested fixes on their website (and other sites that propose fixes). Perhaps the software updates that have occurred of late have made improvements (I haven't played for a few months), but at this point in time, there's little chance of choosing to renew my subscription once it expires.

Were you using the Link or phone to detect shots? I had the link and missed a lot of shots. Worked with support and turned out there was an issue with my Link (played a couple rounds with phone in pocket that worked much better for shot detection) so they sent me a new one. Some other tips, the sensors are photosensitive activated by sunlight so overcast days/early morning/twilight may miss some shots. Also if you have to pull multiple clubs from the bag, carry them upside down until you chose your club. I then take my towel and cover the sensor of the club I'm not using. I was on the verge of pulling the plug myself until I got the new link.

I’ll get an earful, but my Vokey wedges are the worst golf related thing I’ve ever bought.  Especially the one that I paid for customization that was something a kindergartner could have done, from Wedge Works… you know, Bambi, right@JohnSmalls?

There are a lot of ways I could go here.

I actually use my precision pro on each approach.  My boss has an app that he uses a lot and I have found that the app will be off 10/15 yards at times because it may be he is one foot from it updating it's location.  I feel a lot more confident using my rangefinder and seeing the distance, I commit to the swing more.

Any Taylormade driver I have bought has not been a good fit for me.  I have not liked the feel and although I am probably the longest on a good strike, I'm much more inconsistent and wild with it.  Granted these were off the rack purchases but others were as well up until about 5 years ago.

Currently would have to say my Skytrak and all of the other components (projector, gaming laptop) that I've bought for it.  Don't get me wrong, it's great and is fairly accurate, but I do not have a large enough place in my home for a permanent set up.  If I did, i think I would love it, but it's more of a space issue for me rather than the actual components.

Was it the stamping or the actual wedge?  Unsure why you would get an earful, everyone likes and plays different things better.  What's great for me is the worst thing on earth for you.  No big deal lol.  Just curious if you mean the whole package or the stamping?   I remember I tried the Callaway MD2 and didn't get on with it at all, but a few of my buddies swore by those wedges.

The whole thing.  Stamping is atrocious, but I’m just not sold on the whole package either.  Those new PING Glide 4.0’s look promising.

This is a tough one.

GameGolf was mentioned ealrier, it would definitely be near the top of the list for me.

As for Laser and GPS, I use both all the time.  None of them have ever been bad as far as I can recall.   I just got the Precision Pro R1 and have't had a chane to use it, but looking forward to it.

So as far as waste of money, I'm sure it must have been some balls somewere alng the way I'm sure I tried some very cheap or budget "winter" balls and just didnt' like them.

This one is different...... I purchased a golf net. It was a big one that you put up and it stayed up. It was probably 12 feet wide by 10 feet tall. Had steel poles but was probably best if put between two trees since it was so big with wind and such. I lived in the woods in CT with three acres, so I had the perfect spot with two trees the perfect distance apart a nice flat area probably 30 yards from the house.  I put the net up using the poles and also tying to the trees. After a few days of quality practice all was well. The next day not so much. Seems as though the perfect spot was also the perfect path that the deer took. Yup destroyed. Bent poles, net torn beyond repair,  deer tracks all over where he / they struggled to get free. Trashed, went to a pop up and different location going forward. Good idea, wrong location!
