fixyurdivot
And we're off... onto the 2022 season! Well, technically I already missed the 1st event of the new season, Fortinet Championship (congrats Max Homa!) but, stacked up against the Ryder Cup hype, it was understandable. So here we are again at The Chicken Championship at Jackson Country Club. I can't help but think the hardware that comes with this event is among the least treasured in the winners trophy case . Sergio, the only Ryder Cup player in the field returns to defend his title. I wonder had he not won last year whether he would have opted to enter? Perhaps it's an unwritten courtesy to the sponsors that prior year winners show up to defend... or maybe it's required... dunno? With 6 of the last 8 winners being first time tour winners, pretty good chance of that happening. There are a few of the fresh from Korn Ferry Tour players giving it a go and wanting to make a splash. Personally, I'm hoping HVIII can get it done as I think it will be the start of more wins. Who are you thinking will hoist the rooster? Kenny B
The greenside bunkers look amazing. The announcers said that the players would rather be in the bunkers than the bermuda rough around the greens. Maybe bunkers should be replaced with grass bunkers. I remember during one if Jack’s tournaments they removed every other tine from the rakes which made the lies in the bunkers significantly more difficult. Tour bunkers are a consistent lies and the pros are able to get good club contact and generate spin. Swap out for numerous small, pot hole style bunkers where awkward stance is in play 50% of the time. For the vast majority of tour play/courses, they might as well just be putting. tony@CIC and Kenny B 2 Quote G410 Plus, 9 Degree Driver G400 SFT, 16 Degree 3w G400 SFT, 19 Degree 5w ZX5 Irons 4-AW Glide 2.0 56 Degree SW (removed from double secret probation ) ER5v Putter (Evnroll ER5v Official Review) AI-One Milled Seven T CH (Currently Under Product Test)

fixyurdivot
Congratulations to Sam Burns getting his second PGA Tour win! He seems not to have the common problem of not being able to close things out on the final day. Jackson CC seemed a little defenseless, giving up some low scoring. Several of the new KF Tour players really looked good and earned themselves some points moving into the early portion of the 2022 season. Next up is one of my favorites, The Shriners at TPC Summerlin. Arguably the best non-profit cause event on tour. That said, if courses are going to have them they need to be maintained to a reasonable level. It's ridiculous having low spots that are wet and hard as rock simply from course irrigation. Or those with insufficient amount of sand or littered with rocks/pebbles. We sometimes invoke a group rule that, if we end up in a trap and in a messed, un-raked patch, we move the ball to a raked area or pick, smooth and place the ball. Our rationale is that the pros don't have to play such conditions, why should we? Our grounds staff does a good job on our bunkers at my main course. They take them every morning before play. They will be out there pumping them out after a heavy rain. During the COVID restrictions when no tales were allowed, we played - lift rake and place during our league matches. fixyurdivot and Kenny B 2 Quote G430 Max 10K TSiR1 15.0 Aldlia Ascent 60g TSR2 18.0 PX Aldila Ascent 6og TSi1 20 Aldila Ascent Shafts R T350 5-GW SteelFiber I80 SM10 48F/54M and58K S159 48S/52S/56W/60B Select 5.5 Flowback 35" ProV1 Play number

Two of the Yuma courses have the waste bunkers (like second cut rough) and they are a worthy option... but I still like to see the sand fly and then do that knock the sand off my shoes thing . Just when I get decent out of sand... they take it away!! Our muni has a mix of bunkers and "grassy humps and hollows", and yes the humps and hollows are more difficult to hit a shot close to the pin, or even on the green. Our crew doesn't rake the bunkers but maybe a couple times a week. Since we didn't have rakes during early covid, people got used to moving the ball or smoothing the sand with their feet. Now we have rakes and players still don't use them!! We do have the occasional "casual water pond" in those hollows. On the par 5 #18 today at the corner of the dogleg, there was water in one that was about 2 feet deep and cloudy; couldn't see my playing partner's ball, but we knew it was in it. When it drains out tonight, maybe he can find it when he mows the rough in the morning. fixyurdivot 1 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

PMookie
A friend of mine spoke at the Women’s luncheon for the tournament earlier this week, and she was given access to the Sanderson box by the guy who runs the whole tournament! I got invited to go hang out, and took advantage of it, even getting permission to come back the same day after my friend had to leave! It was awesome! I haven’t been to a PGA Tournament in 20 years, and I’ve never had 18th hole box passes!
