"We're gonna have a lot of fun."😉

In mid summer i hadn't played in 6yrs and my bag was a mess of >17yr old clubs,

Calloway Hawkeye VFT

Adams Tight Lies ST 3w 7w

Jack Niclaus Golden Bear irons 3-pw

Early 2000s Vokeys 54° and 60°

Ping G2i Craz-E

Friend of mine finally got me to go golfing with him in mid/late July and i caught the bug again. Played the first month or so with my old clubs and wasn't doing very well. Could not hit that Hawkeye straight to save my life, was flubbing multiple chips per hole and had the worm burners bad. I was hitting my irons "okay" and my putting was pretty good as it always is.

Then my brother decided to intervene and offered me some of his "old clubs" LOL. He wound of giving me a TS3 in pretty good shape, 3 well used  SM7s of which I'm using 2 atm and a pretty much brand new set of 2019 T200s. He's got a really good job and is a procrastinator, so he had just never gotten around to reselling any of them... and boy am i glad he didn't haha. He used the irons for a month or two, didn't like them, so he put them in the closet and bought a new set of AP2s(which is what he was using before).

In the last week, I've bought 3 used hybrids H1 818 19° and H1 816 25° and 27°. Tuned the loft on the 25° down a notch to give it a bit more gap to the 27°. Not sure i realy need that one yet. I'm still trying to figure these long irons out. He had the 4-6 reshafted with KBS shafts and i can't quite dial them in like i have the 7-GW with the stock S200 steels.

Today i bought my filler wedge when i pick up a barely used JetBlack SM8 58°M...

I think I'm going to have the original shaft put back on the 6i and then leave the 4-5 out to keep me under 14. So now my bag is going to look something like this...

Am i the only one who sits around checking his tracking info every 30min? lol

I got 4 packages with 3 different carriers on the way...

A new bag. Some new iron covers for my T200s and a couple hybrid covers.

Then there is the most expensive joke I've ever played. Bought  a $20 "poop emoji" headcover to play a joke on a buddy who has a bit of IBS. The next time we're all together and he has to stop on hole 5 to use the facilities, I'm gonna stick that on his driver...

Now that's funny. I have 4 packages on their way here and the one that arrived first was the one predicted to arrive last, lol...

My new bag is now in-state and hopefully will arrive tomorrow but if not, I'm sure it will be here Friday at the latest.

Got my packages finally. Sorry about the large pics but i haven't figured out how to resize them on this site...

Wilson NFL Cart Bag. 14way divider with full length nylon sleeves. Plus an exterior putter well. So if any of you guys like to carry an orange whip or a ball retriever, there is an open slot for it.

Ignore the Mizuno Hybrid cover. The store i bought those at only had 1 Titleist Hybrid cover so they offered me the Mizuno one. I bought the Forgan of St. Andrews Hybrid cover off of Amazon and I might buy 2 more. I highly recomend those if any of you need one. The back side of it lifts up to insert the hybrid and has magnets to keep it closed...

Not sure of the brand of the iron covers but they were like $20 on Amazon after a discount i had. 11 piece set. 4,5,6,7,8,9,PW,AW,SW,LW and an X. Works perfect for me since I dont have a 3i and am currently carrying 5 wedges(PW, Gap/Approach wedge from my T200s and 3 Vokeys SW and 2 LWs). They have velcro to lock them on the irons. The Vokeys were a bit snug but went on and i think they will losen up a bit with use. Here's a link to the Amazon page if anyone is interested.

Sounds like you hit pay dirt! That's what we call, it in the south. Just remember, you have not played in 6 yrs, it's going to take you sometime to get the feel back on your chips, etc. I have the Titleist T100s/T200 combo set of irons and they are excellent clubs.

Good Luck to your golf, but not to the Buckeyes. 🤭

My chipping has pretty much gotten back to normal. Still topping a couple drives per round but even that has gotten much better. Mostly i just need time on the range and course to get some consistency back. I was under a 10 handicap back in the early 2000s and its just been frustrating knowing what I'm capable of.

So what is the yardage gap between your 6 iron and 27 degree hybrid, as they are about the same loft?

Does sound like fun.

B

Driver: Callaway Epic 9 degree, stiff (set at 10 degrees with the movable weight in the center}

FW: Callaway Epic 3,5, heaven wood w/ regular shaft (driver shaft in 3 wood, 3 wood shaft in 5 wood, 5 wood shaft in heaven wood, all three set at neutral plus 1 degree)

Hybrids: Callaway BB19 4,6,7 (4 set at neutral plus 1 degree and 6 and 7 set at neutral minus 1 degree for gapping purposes)

Irons: Callaway Rogue ST Max 8, 9, PW

Wedges: Titleist Vokey SM6 50,54,58

Ball: Titleist Pro V1, 1X, Vice Pro Plus or anything I find that day and try out for the fun of it (I haven't bought balls with my own money in at least 10 years)

I've only hit the 27 a couple times on the course and haven't been to the range with it yet but there's probably a 10-15yd difference give or take. As i'm sure you know, hybrids usually travel a bit farther than an iron. Not sure if its my sweeping type swing but the T200s also seem to have a higher launch angle than I'm used to, so that probably helps a bit with the gap.

WIll be interesting to see what the gap is once i get around to putting the steel shaft back on the 6i. The lie for the 4-6i was also flattened 2° and I'm going to have them put back to normal.

Well, I'm about to tinker again. I was already going to get at least two of my hybrids new shafts. My 19° has a HZRDUS Smoke Black 6.0 which i really like but the 25° and 27° have stock Diamana R-Flex shafts and it's throwing me off going back and forth. While I'm at it, I'm going to udgrade my 25° 816 to a 23° 818. The bottom end gap is ok but there's too much from Driver to 19° and 19° to 25°(24). I got a 23° H1 818 head with little or no face wear at a decent price since it doesn't have a shaft on it.

So on Monday I'm going to a local shop and either getting two new or used HZRDUS shafts fitted and installed if he has them, ordered  and me measured if he can get them or I'll get something similiar with a stiff flex for all three. Then all i have to do is pop the 23° head on when it shows up. Then i am going to drop all three hybrids down a ° to 18, 22 and 26 to even out the gaps and give me a bit more distance at the top end, as well as open up the gap a bit more to the 6i.

As a bonus, if/when i ever do upgrade to TS or TSi hybrids, i can get whatever cheap shafts and toss them, or just heads if there are any available at the time, and then just transfer over my fitted shafts.

Might get my driver done as well since my short ass brother had an inch chopped off that nice Aldila NV 75-S, lol...

Well that was cool. While i was hunting around for hybrids the other day i did a quick search for JetBlack vokeys to add to my wedges. I have the 58*M SM8 that i got lucky on. Just happened to be at the local shop not long after someone had traded it in. Maybe had a couple dozen shots hit with it. I think i padi $110 before taxes on it. Very faint paintwear but had zero nicks on the face. I was figuring I'd have to buy the others new but have been checking ebay off and on.

The other day i noticed an auction for the perfect 54*F sand wedge that wasn't used much more than the other i got. It has just a tad more face wear but not much and one nick high on the face that looks like a normal "bag chatter" mark, so that's not a problem. It had a minum bid set at $75 with no action, so i bookmarked it. So this morning when i was deleting all the hybrids i had marked, i saw that and forgot i had done it. Clicked on it and it still didn't have any bids and was under 4hrs. So i figured what the heck and bid the $75 and thinking that there would be a least one late bidder, set a max at $90 so i wouldn't get "Price is Righted" and went golfing.

Played ok in some very damp conditions but didn't make any putts really. 45 on 9 holes. Got home and opened the comp and I'll be damned if i didn't win with the minimum bid. Was $91 something after tax and shipping. First ebay auction i ever actually bid on. The seller didn't have the best history but I've seen much worse and got my stuff. Either way ebay will take care of it, and tbh, as long as it isnt mangled, at that price I'll probably keep it anyway, lol.

Now I've gotten 2/3 of my JetBlack SM8s and basically got one for free considering these things are like $180 right now new...

Now the challenge, finding a 62*M without having to custom order it lol

Speaking of Vokeys, having limited contact with club buying over the last 15+ years, I didn't know about some of them being outlawed. Is it all the old vokeys or just certain models? I have two old vokeys that I recently took out of the bag and was wondering if they're worth keeping or maybe selling/trading and being illegal would obviously effect the value. Considering their age, they're in really good shape, I would put an 8/10 on both of them... I'm not quite sure which year model they are, it's either one of these two...

As you can tell, they look exactly the same but I'm leaning towards them being the 200 series based on the spec charts. These don't have the SpinMill tooling on the back which got me thinking, are these models still legal or are they also banned?

Most 252 258 series are pre 2010 and are deemed non conforming by the USGA-- IMHO those are the best hitting and feeling wedges of the whole Vokey line. Now the stickler on the rule is supposedly they are conforming to most AMs untill 2022 I think. But they are non conforming in certain stipulated events. If you are not playing certain stipulated events like regional and State AMs no need to worry.  Most in my neck of the woods do not give two hoots and do like I do play what they darn well please. You can go on the USGA data base and check for sure. I never saw the hype on the groove thing. I know supposedly it was the fact the pros could spin them out of long grass. News Flash those guys can spin anything and control it. Newer read "conforming" wedges under the newer rules are a lot more aggressive. I can remember the first conforming wedges I tested were Wishon PCF. Man those things bit and I wondered if they were legal. Got the word from Tom Wishon himself that they were and they were on the USGA conforming list. Recently because of health reasons I swithched to some newer irons and built up some new wedges that are conforming. Man those things bite aggressively. Now some will argue that I am saying this coming from vintage Cleveland 588s. I kept my 588s grooved out and they had sharp illegal grooves to say the least but these newer Callys are aggressive

I can say this on here but I believe the USGA was in bed with the new manufacturers on the groove rule to force people to buy new wedges and newer lower lofted equipment in general. Anyone who knows me on here and other sites will tell you I am the biggest USGA detractor on this board and any other board. In fact a few years back I discontinued my 25 years of being a USGA member over the groove rule and anchored putter ban. I have always said this and still stand by it today---- Take for example your older wedges like all of my vintage equipment was approved to USGA specs on the date of manufacture.

As far as say local club events I would not worry because most folks do not know the difference anyhow and do not pay attention and could care less. But I know there can always be one Rules Natzi out there.

Titleist started out with a teardrop line, a more rounded line, and a more squared off line in the Vokeys--- but with only loft options.

When they decided to go with grind and bounce options, they did it all with just the most popular tear drop face.

It would have been awesome if they offered all the options in all three shapes, but it would also have been asking a lot.

If they offered all the options in all three head shapes in both conforming and shredder models, that would make Titleist my favorite clubmaker ever!

Well i got my "new" hybrid and SW a couple days ago. This morning after the yearly excursion to the DMV,🎂  i went over to a local shop and traded in the remainder of my old gear.  Hawkeye VFT with a steel shaft that was in decent shape, my Tight Lies ST 3 and 7 woods and my illegal OG Vokeys...

Got a new shaft for the 23* hybrid Fujikura something or other, can't remember the model off the top of my head, switched the Tensei White shaft over to my 27* and had him cut a half inch off it.  Plus put new grips on those two and my "new" Jetblack Vokeys...

Yeah it would be very complicated in several areas. First off inventory and to be honest most people are not as savvy as us WRXers are--- They have no idea about bounces or grinds--- And most ot the people in the big box stores have no idea either---- I am lucky I have been blessed with the talent and knowledge to do my own grinds. Some around here thought I was crazy to take a grinder to a brand new PM wedge. I did not hesitate took it down from 13* which is too much bounce for me to a 10* which works quite well for me. Another thing they do not understand about what bounce options is what is needed for a paticular lie. This is just me and may not pertain to others.. Say I have a shot of 80 yards on hardpan. Normally for me off of grass on a good lie The 56* wedge will work fine. On that shot I would use the recently acquired Mack Daddy 52* because for me it is an 8* bounce or I may turn it down some and aim right and take some of the bounce off of it too. Also on some grinds if you hood down a wedge you can get some funky bounce too.  One of the reasons I look for what I call a flat sole grind. As SOP I just started carrying 3 wedges but I have them speced out for me. My course is rebuilding some of the bunkers and they are getting nice. If I play a course with fluffy greenside bunkers I will slip in either an old Hogan Sure out or a Ping Zing Lob ( yeah I know both non conforming) . I have not tried the PM 56 out of a fluffy bunker yet so I do not know if it can be useful there if not no problem because I did not set it up for bunkers anyhow. Now I will say this is me and may or may not work for you or anyone else. But I think as much as new conforming wedges cost now one needs to have solid information as to what fits their game--- Sounds like to me you have it dialed in pretty well for you

Some more tinkering has occurred...

Something felt a bit different about the 23 the first couple times i used it but couldn't figure out why. Over the weekend i was resetting all my woods/hybrids back to the neutral A1 setting when it hit me. I completely forgot to check the weight inside  it when it got here. I open it up and find a 16g neutral weight inside. My 19* has a 14g Draw/Fade.

So i went to the range and did some testing and can definitely see the difference when swapping the weights around. I started looking around for some more weights to try and damn those little things are pricey, lol. I wound up finding the whole 818 H1 weight kit unopened for a really good price. I think there are 13 weights in total. Including 5 neutral weights.

...and since i was going to have plenty of extras, i went ahead and ordered a 27* 818, lol. There were a couple on 2ndSwing on sale and got a pretty much brand new looking one for less than i paid for the 816 27* H1, lol. It had a ladies shaft on it, so I'm guessing it's got one of the lighter weights in it but i should have plenty. Switch my Tensei CK White shaft on to it and it'll be ready to go.

Time to play the waiting game... Shipping times place them at Tuesday for the weights and wednesday for the hybrid... On Thanksgiving week... I'll believe it when i see it, lol.

Got a really good deal on a barely used TSi2 3wood. Gotta love Black Friday sales. It was tagged at $ 269.99 and they gave it to me for $210 after taxes, which is a lot less that i would have spent shopping on ebay or 2ndSwing for something in as nice of condition as this one is. They had 3 options and i went with the high launch 16.5 for now and they also have a 15* TSi2 and a 15* TSi3, all about the same amount of use/wear. The only problem is that both the 15*s have R Flex shafts.

So, if i find out that i don't like this one, i have 30days to return it and get store credit to exchange it for one of the others and maybe they'll let me swap the shaft if i do.

That second pic is a bit grainy but there is only one tiny little scratch right in the middle below the bottom groove. Besides that, the only thing that makes it obvious that it's been used, is the tiny bit of dirt caked in the crevasses on the sole.

Will probably just stick with this setup for now. I do have my guy at the local shop that is going to try and get me a repair or maybe replacement*fingers crossed* for my TS3 driver(i told the story in another thread but to keep it short, the weight cartridge somehow popped lose of its track and is now rattling around inside the head). If they can't do anything for me, he has a near mint 915D3 that he is going to give me cheap until i can save up enough for a new driver.

Strange couple days...

So i heard back from my guy yesterday that Titleist said that my TS3 was out of warranty but they were going to give me a $100 credit towards the purcahse of a new driver. I couldn't really justify paying for a new driver so he was going to give me the 915D and call it even, which was fine by me.

Fast forward a couple hours... I went out to get McDonald's and i stopped at the gas station across the street to buy a couple of those crossword puzzle scratch-offs to help kill time in the ridiculously long lines they have there usually. The line was actually moving pretty quick so i only wound up only scratching one of them off and forgot about the other for a couple hours. I eventually remembered and scratched it... and wound up winning $300. I immediately thought... Hmm, maybe i can afford that driver after all but then thought better of it.

I didn't sleep well overnight(I'm an occasional insomniac) and wound up going out for breakfast real early. Stopped at the same gas station and  bought one of the same tickets but out of the lottery machine this time... and won $150, lol... After that, i figured it was meant to be.

So here in a couple weeks i will have a brand new TSi3 with a HZRDUS RDX Black shaft...😁

It's pretty crazy how the last few months have gone. I went from not playing in basically 6yrs and having a bag of 20ish year old clubs, to having a bag that's probably worth close to $2-2.5k....

Well... after the last couple weeks, i think i have finally given up on the T200s. Those things are just too much iron for me. When i hit them right, it's such a beautiful ball flight but just can't get the consistency. I hit about 3 or four out of 10 well, and the others are a mix of scalding linedrives and towering draws.

So i dropped the 716 AP2 project off at my fitter earlier and hopefully these work a bit better for me...

...and if not, between what i can get for those two sets, i could buy 3 or 4 sets to mess around with till i find the rights ones, lol.

The anticipation is killing me... Supposed to pick up my "new" irons in a couple hours and and will either hit some balls in his simulator or i might just go out to the small range he has next to the shop...

...then get to play tomorrow before the weather turns bad again for a couple days...

... Oh and Titleist needs to hurry up with my TSi3, lol. At least the AP2 project took my mind of it for a few days.🥺
