Popular Post GolfSpy_APH
As the season winds down for many in colder areas and we start to get jealous of all those who are able to golf year round I wanted to ask and hear some stories about what everyones highlights were for the season? This of course can range from watching the tour, playing or your own game highlights, MGS highlights from testing to simply joining the site and anything else for this golfing season! For me the breakdown of highlights is pretty easy... my golf season this year on a playing side was low which was expected, but I made up for it by watching more golf then I have ever in my life before. I had a great run at the MGS Fantasy Golf League with a 2nd place regular season finish and a top 10 finish after the playoffs. This for me was a huge highlight as it gave me the chance get to know some of you through trade talks and the weekly highlights posts. Of course the other big MGS highlight was becoming a mod, which has been a great privilege and again another great way to get to know a lot of you more and to contribute to the site which has already given me so much. So in short MGS has definitely been my golfing highlight and all that surrounds MGS. I have got a new net for training and practice and my folks brought my backup set form Canada so all my clubs are now here in Switzerland. It has been a unusual golf season for me, but still one I really enjoyed and looking forward to welcoming a new member to the family in February who will hopefully take a liking to golf like I have. Popular Post Bucky CC
Broke par for the first time ever a few weeks ago (71) and followed that up with a 69 two and half weeks later. Birdied every hole on my home course for the first time in 2 years. Volunteered as a hole marshal at the Ryder Cup. Was lucky enough to be selected for another MGS test. Though the VoiceCaddie SL2 didn't quite work out for me it's always a pleasure to be involved in the forum tests. Popular Post Tom the Golf Nut
My season highlights: Dropped my handicap from a 2.0 to a .6 this season. Birdied every hole on my course for the first time in the same season. Shot an all par round this season. Had 9 rounds in the 60's this season. That's an all time high for me, usually I'm lucky to get 2 a season. I was selected for the Maxfli's ball testing. Got to play with two other spies this year. Popular Post PMookie
Played more rounds this year than I have in the past. Handicap moved down to 3.0 last week (shot 88 this week ). Changed every club in my bag except one, and will be changing balls to the Srixon Z Star next season. Was once again part of the Vision Pilot Program testing a variety of balls for the Australian company, was selected by another forum as a winner of the new Cobra hybrid, wrote here a number of times about my fitting experiences with Edel putters and wedges, my “sledgehammer” driver, and helped with some information for@GolfSpy Barbajo’s articles on the Honma Fitting Experience, even providing some pics for the write-ups from my time in the fittings. Popular Post Golfspy_CG2
Well it's been an adventuresome year, my golf season was delayed by about 5 months as most of you know due to tough and scary battle with COVID right at New Years. Once I began it was a bit of a process. A process that involved coming back to this site in my office at the end of April So it took some time to work through all those, some got more of a chance than others but in the end I found some winners. My highlights usually include a trip or two, but no travel this year due to health and COVID. So It ended up being making the playoffs in my Weekly Men's League. Having to shoot some good rounds toward the last part of the regular season to get in. Had a disappointing round and lost in the first round. But was glad to make it in. Next biggest highlight was getting fit and getting the Titleist T300 irons, which have completely changed my iron game. Not only hitting the ball more consistently, but more distance than before, able to reach a couple long par 3's and long second shot par 4's with a 5 iron that was previously a hybrid. Along those lines, finally having an all Titleist bag back in play has been very satisfying. Finally I'm feeling pretty much back to normal---minus 70 lbs and hope to carry the success over into 2022. I've still got some golf to play this year, so it's not over yet. Popular Post russtopherb
Honestly my highlights were getting to play a round with my brother who lives nearly on the other side of the country, and watching my 15yo practically drive the green on a shorter par 4. I got quite a few rounds in with my wife driving me around in a golf cart and just being awesome. This has been a great year on the forum, as I've been able to communicate with several different spies and get to know you better. NRJyzr
Been an interesting year. I'm looking to hit a high point on rounds played during the year. I looked back at my numbers, I've crawled past 60 rounds played a couple times in the last half dozen years, which I think is pretty good for a guy still working full time in Minnesota. This year, I'm already pushing up against 70. My wife retired this year, having hit the magical 59-1/2 age that allows penalty-free 401k access. Apparently, with me working from home and here therefore seeing more of me, this has allowed a bit more golf for yours truly. I've normally played Friday and either Saturday or Sunday, but this year, all three days has been a bit more frequent. She's even told me I need to do this the last month or more, because the season is dwindling, I have to get my golf in. I love my wife. Joined my course's Saturday Men's Club, after years of being badgered by friends and acquaintances who were members. I didn't win any events, but placed a few time, doing moderately well in chits (shop credit). And, I was a member of the winning team in the Club's Ryder Cup event, winning 2.5 of 3 possible points. We also welcomes a second granddaughter, born on 7/7, exactly 7 days before her sister's second birthday. With all those sevens in play, I've been trying to convince our son and daughter in law to play the lottery, but they've yet to buy a ticket to my knowledge. Finally, I've reaffirmed my ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. I've threatened to bump up against my personal best (73) a couple times, only to do something completely stupid and fall apart in the last few holes. Even my season best of 75 had some of this. What can I say? It's a skill. Season not yet over. A last Men's Club doubles event this saturday, and the Blizzard Open team event takes place on Oct 24.
