Best "Cheap" Rangefinder

Some of these things are just outrageous... $300... $600... Ummm... $1200?!? 😲 Like wow man.

Like with many things, I'm guessing you get what you pay for and cheaper ones are, for the most part, cheap.

So... are there any options in the $75-100 range that are actually worth buying?

I haven't seen any;  generally the entry level into this market is $150-$200 unless you buy used.

I know you are looking for cheap rangefinder but it really comes down to needs vs features. I recently did a review for the Voice Caddie SL2($500). Now this is what I would consider expensive. I will post a link below to the MGS Official review but I can say this with 100% certainty. Mine will not leave the bag until it no longer works. The green undulations weren’t the easiest but the fact that not only does it have pin lock, if you happen to be blocked out by trees or other obstacles, there is a gps function that will still get you your yardages needed all in one unit.

The frustration is quite real as I faced it too. But look for one that fir your needs. Most of the high end variants are for long range snipers, hunters and gun shooter. You can find a suitable golf rangefinder from 100-300$ at hunting manual. Based on ones I used, I would recommend to buy one from callaway or bluetees. Hope that helps!

I was in this same boat recently and really frustrated because I wanted the features of the high end at the knock off price lol. I used a little patience and found someone selling a used callaway and precision pro on offer up. A week later I found a used bushnell XE (old model) and quickly bought it and sold the callaway I had bought. I have to say I’m in love. It’s amazing. I have shaky hands and never have an issue getting a read even from 200+ out. It’s helped my approach tremendously and it’s light years better than the newer callaway I originally bought. I would say if you don’t want to dish out the price for the high end just be patient until you can find a used one. There is a reason they cost more and I won’t question it ever again haha.

I've used a Mileseey PF210 Pro for the last several years.  I bought it on eBay directly from Mileseey for under $100.   It had 6X optics, flag lock, slope and other features similar to higher end rangefinders.  On eBay now, you can get the same rangefinder for roughly $80 and more updated ones (with magnet holders, etc.) for under $100.  I found them to give fast and accurate measurements as compared with my golfing buddies who own significantly more expensive devices.

A friend I played with a couple of weeks ago had a Gogogo Sport Pro Laser Rangefinder that seemed pretty nice.  Uses 2 AAA batteries rather than the CR2 which are more expensive and sometimes hard to find around here.  Has Slope, flag lock vibration, continuous scan and mag mount.  I bought it on Amazon Prime Day for $84.  Being delivered today!!  I'll check it out compared to our Bushnell Tour V3 that I got in 2014 and has worked great.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09KR87MQT?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1

Our course has pink flags this month for breast cancer awareness and US Flags on the appropriate holidays, which makes using my Garmin S62 somewhat less accurate on certain holes without knowing where the flag is located.  My wife has taken over the Bushnell, and I need a laser when she's not playing with me.

I just bought one of the cheaper ones on amazon (below $80 dollars) that is rechargeable.

I've tried it out once, and so far it seems to work just as fast and reliable as the more expensive ones. I've already lost two brand name rangefinders, so now I am trying this new strategy of buying a cheap one and see which occurs first: it breaking, or me losing it 😉

My longest drive recorded on course is 404 yards.

I tried the Gogogo out on Tuesday and it worked well.  It was within a yard of our Bushnell Tour V3; fits very nicely into my hand; and the mag mount is very strong.  Optics are good and the diopter is adjustable for better focus.  My only issue is the mag mount is on the wrong side for me; I almost dropped it when trying to place it on the cart windshield support and it didn't stick!!  Guess that's something I get used to.  I don't use it on each hole, so it will interesting how long the AAA batteries last, but they are cheap and easy to replace.

Seconded on the Mileseey; I got mine on Amazon for around £100 with slope, now cheaper.

The only negative I've noted is there was a little condensation inside the lenses after being caught in a really heavy downpour with the case open; a radiator fixed that

One way to get to the price range you are looking for and also get a more high end range finder is to go the refurbished route. I scored a refurbished Harry Taylor Black Edition range finder for $99 at GolfEtail Deals. They still have this deal. I am very happy with the range finder.

Bushnell golf rangefinders run $299 to $599 but they seem to last forever and very reliable.  Some of the seniors that I play with check their yardages against mine to see if their yardage on their other cheaper makes and theirs are normally off around five yards.   Does five yards matter really matter to most on this site.  If I am going to buy a brand, I want the best out there.  If the cheaper brands wear out quicker and are less effective, you will pay the same in the long run.  Get a good one to begin with.   Bushnell and Leupold are the very best rangefinders you can purchase.  Mine cost $549 (Pro XE), is water proof, I change the battery about every year and a half, lightweight, has a magnet to attach to my cart, has slope option, optics are awesome and adjusts for wind and barometric pressure.  Take all of the guessing out of it.  I am retired, worked hard all my life and deserved a few luxuries in my fun years.

Doesn't matter as long as you use the same rangefinder all the time.  My wife usually gets the yardage for me on the par 3 holes.  When playing with another couple, they got to the next tee first and gave me the distance using their rangefinder... the 5 yards cost me not getting to the green!!!

The answer is YES!  I cannot recommend this enough.   On Amazon, the AILEMON 6X Golf Range Finder, 1000/1200 Yard Laser RangeFinder with Slope Switch, Scan, Flagpole Lock, and Speed Function, Tournament Legal Golf Rangefinder.   I bought mine in 2020.   I have literally charged it, like, 4 or 5 times in 2 years.  I charges USB (Micro USB, I think) and comes with the charging cord.

It does slope, it vibrates when you hit the flag.   IT IS $73.00!!   Not $300... $200... $100.   $73 bucks.   I play 3 - 5 times a week and it just goes and goes and goes on a single charge.  Amazing for the money.  I had a Bushnell and  a couple of other mid-price range-finders.  I will take this one all day.

Verdict after second round. Seems to be very correct in distance, and just as good handling. I also upped my game a bit and had a couple of great wedge shots, so that might make me a bit biased right now 🙂

Still too early for any real product judgement, but so far I don't see a reason to go for a more expensive name brand.

My longest drive recorded on course is 404 yards.

My wife and daughters gave me the Precision Pro NX7 Pro Slope for my birthday in September. I've used it now for approximately 20 rounds and couldn't be happier. For $200, you'll not find anything better. It doesn't have a magnet to hang on the cart, which wasn't important to me. It may be to some so they have other models with magnets. I walk and it hangs on the side of my Clicgear 3.5.

I bought a "cheap" one from Amazon and it has performed brilliantly.  It also has the added benefit of taking regular AAA batteries which are easy to keep in the bag for emergency battery changes.  It is a YUNDOO brand, but I'm not sure if it still available.  I'm sure any cheap chinese rangefinder would most likely be the same exact thing, made in the same factory.  Don't have any qualms about getting a cheap one from Amazon.  It even has the slope feature (which I don't ever use).  It came with a nice little carrying case as well.

... Costco ($129) and TGW ($149) sell the same unit with different names and it works well enough. The only real difference compared to my Bushnell is the Bushnell is fast finding the flag and produces a jolt quickly. The CaddyTec sometimes needs a few tries before locking in. But numbers for yardage and slope yardage are equally accurate.

I also purchased a PrecisionPro NX7 Pro Slope rangefinder 2 to 3 years ago when it was PP’s top-of-the-line model.  It is very good, but I don’t like the optics as well as I do on my 7 year old Bushnell, which still works fine. I also find that the PP NX7 often takes its sweet time to lock on the target, including the flag, and sometimes it requires multiple attempts to get it to give a readout at all.

I have a Boblov that I got from Amazon a few years back (3? 4? can't say for sure, I changed the CR2 battery 3 times I think, and use it "roughly"). It's got slope, vibration, it's not the fastest ever when using pin lock but in standard mode it's pretty much instantaneous, the distances are never more than 1 yard off from what friends with Nikon's or Bushnell's expensive units get, The only negative is that the dioptric adjustment doesn't stay in place so I have to fiddle with the thinggy about once per round to have a pin sharp image. Other than that, my 90 dollars unit performs just as well as the "big boys" and I certainly will replace it when it dies (probably in a looooong time) with a similar unit. I might actually change before it dies or does anything wrong, just to get the "newer things" like a visible and easy to access slope toggle and a possibility for red display as I often play dusk golf!

Aim small... pray to miss small

I'm actually doing a little review on the Hanience range finder.

It's by no means perfect but I have been impressed so far!
