pulledabill
Whats everybody working on? I just finished pulling some C Tapers out of a buddies older Adams and installed them in a buddies 919 Tours along with swingweight adjustment and new grips. I then took the TT DG 120s I pulled and replaced my KBS Tours in my 919s along with swingweight adjustment and new grips. Regripped the rest of my clubs as well as lengthened a couple Vokey SM8s I bought a few months ago. Hadnt touched the build/ repair end much and it felt good getting back at it. MattWillGolf
I’m dipping my toes in this area slowly. I’m going to try my hand at putting some new ferrules on my wedges. I purchased some BB and F Co ferrules, a Bernzomatic micro torch, a hosel cleaning brush, epoxy, and centering beads. I forgot the emory cloth so one more trip to Lowe’s. I have watched and rewatched several @McGolf YouTube videos on pulling iron heads, assembling irons and his video on manually turning ferrules. I use Grail Golf for most of my ferrules and get the dameter as close to hosel diameter as possible to avoid too much sanding. They cost a little more but worth it as it saves time when doing manually. Ferrule $$$ add up quickly. When I first started out I bought a few clubs from Goodwill to play with. Enjoy. Close to hosel diameter makes life much much easier. For me, its not so much about having to turn down the ferrule, but when the ferrule is too large, there is a greater chance of a very thin line of epoxy getting stuck right around the overhang which can leave a little epoxy around the hosel that you can't see until you turn down the ferrule. I turn my ferrules down with a 42 X 1 belt sander with a cloth belt. edingc, MattWillGolf and pulledabill 3 Quote Follow my golf journey to break into the 80s Tester for the Titleist TSi Driver Spring 2020 MGS Tester for the Fujikura Motore X Shaft Updated 07/15/2022 Driver: Rogue St Max LS - Autoflex Fairway Woods: Rogue Max St 3HL and 7 Wood Irons: JPX 921 Hot Metal 5 to AW - Aerotech Steelfiber i95 Stiff parallel tip Wedges: Glide 4.0 54 and 58 Putter: PLD Custom Kushin
edingc
On Sunday I finished up getting the 699 Pro 5 and 6 iron heads on my MMTs. Having gone through building the set last winter, my second time around was much simpler. Reamed the BB&F Co. ferrules before putting them on and had the heat gun ready to coax them up the shaft a little easier. Trimmed the brass shims down a bit as well and that helped, though the 5 iron didn't need one at all. Unfortunately, my Golfworks Scotchbrite ferrule belt literally disintegrated onto the ferrule and now I have to get some fine sandpaper to clean it up. Not really sure what happened there. Next thing will be to pull the grips and measure the butt end of the 5 iron and order a shaft extension. I'm about 3/8" short due to the bottom bore to ground measurement on the 699 Pros being different than the 699s. The 6 iron is only a 1/4" short, and I'm deciding whether I want to just slice 1/4" off everything else to match (still would need 1/8" extension on the 5 iron). I hit the 6 iron Sunday and was striping it, so I'm not concerned about dropping 1/4". Final winter item will be to pull all of the grips and add a couple additional wraps of painter's tape beneath the right hand. I'll blow them back on and hopefully straighten them out again. BostonSal
I need to find a 75-95 yard shot with my new irons. Titleist really screwed me over dropping the L-Grind 58 in the SM8 Series. It had previously been in the Spin Milled lineup since the very beginning. None of their other Vokey 58s are low bounce enough for my cleanly picked finesse shots around the greens. The 60-04 for which I settled is OK around the greens but doesn't have enough legs on full shots. If I hit it harder, it just goes up higher. Now I've got the rest of the winter to find an SM7 L-Grind 58 in very good condition. Then I have to reshaft and regrip it to match the iron set. Then I have to have it bent 1° flat as well as check the 58º loft. When I get the pro shop bill, I'll have paid for it TWICE. So that's why I feel that Titleist screwed me over, even though I really like the rest of the new iron set. pulledabill 1 Quote Louisville Golf Persimmon___2, 4, 5, 7-woods; Epon AF-906___driving iron; Titleist T100 5, 6, 7, 8, 9-irons; Titleist T100S___48°; Edison 2.0___53º; Titleist SM-9 (T)___58º; Tad Moore Otto Hackbarth___putter; Titleist Pro V1x___ball

Syks7
Just finished rebuilding my original set of clubs. TM R9s. Getting ready to build the Sub 70 639 cbs I got off ebay over Christmas. I'm going to really slow roll this build for two reasons. A. I'm trying to wait to reward myself when I get to single digits. B. I'll be out of stuff to build after I finish which will lead me to make silly decisions on ebay for no reason. McGolf is right, this is an addiction. pulledabill 1 Quote Driver 0311 Gen 5 -- Tensei CK Orange 60 Woods 0341 3W -- Tensei AV Raw Blue Hybrids 0317X 2&4 -- Tensei AV Raw Blue Irons ZX7 4/AW -- C-Taper Lite 110 Wedges T7 55º @55/7 -- TT DG Spinner Putter DF2.1 or Link.1 -- Accra Ball Zstar Diamond
